A Lady's Lesson in Scandal by Meredith Duran

A Lady's Lesson in Scandal I've always had a soft spot for Cinderella-esque types of stories and Meredith Duran's latest installment is just that! We have our heroine from the East End of London, Nell, and our hero who is a peer from the ton, Simon. You ask how they're supposed to be connected to each other? Well, Nell hapens to be the lost/missing daughter of Lord Rushden, Lady Cornelia. And Simon happens to be their heir to Rushden's title... What a small world huh! The story starts out pretty slow, but it soon picks up when Nell's "fake" mother dies and she decides to go for revenge against Rushden. Little did she know that her father had already passed away and the current Lord Rushden is actually Simon.

I absolutely love this book and the characters that are in it! Simon and Nell are perfect for one another and their chemistry was just wonderful. Nell was extremely wary of Simon in the beginning and believed that he was crazy! There was plot, romance, a pretty nasty villain, and last but not least, and very satisfying conclusion to it all! What more can you want? Simon and Nell's relationship was very real and there was no doubt that they both really love one another. I hated the villain but thankfully, he got the ending that he deserved. Overall, this book is definitely a keeper and if you're ever in the lookout for a mistaken identity, Cinderella type of book where a poor girl meets an earl kind of book.... than this is the one for you. 5/5 stars!

Lessons in Indiscretion by Karen Erickson

Lessons in Indiscretion For a very quick book, I actually enjoyed this one very much. The chemistry between Garrett and Julia was hot! Although one small complaint about this book would be that it way too short! If only the author had lengthen the story and gave the couple the development that they deserved, it could have been a great historical/erotica romance novel. It's not to say that i did not "love" this book. I really liked it and Julie kind of broke my heart too because she firmly believed that she wasn't good enough for Garrett. Their romance was actually hard to believe at first... but I had to give credit to Julia/Garrett for the fact that she had known him since he was 14 years old. They had time for their relationship to grow? I'm not sure, but either way, it worked. Even if she was five years older than him.

Anywho, very intriguing quick read and I would actually be interested in reading more from this author. The scenes between the hero and heroine was extremely well-done and I loved the sensuality of it. Not to mention that Garrett talks pretty dirty... for someone from the peer. Overall, 4/5 stars!

Unlocked by Courtney Milan

Unlocked (Turner, #1.5) What a breathtaking and beautiful love story between two people who have been through so much pain just because of one stupid mistake made by a young Evan, the Earl of Westfeld. For ten long years, Lady Elaine has been the laughing stock of the ton due to the cruel remarks made by Evan and his cousin, Diana, Lady Cosgrove. It not only destroyed her self-confidence but also the love that could have been as well. The reason why this whole scenario is just so heartbreaking is because there was a reason behind Evan's cruel remarks. He believed that as long as she noticed him and remembered who he was, Elaine would eventually reciprocate his feelings for her. It was a love gone wroung... because instead of what he had planned to have happened, he caused Elaine many years of unhappiness and unforgiveness towards him.

Wow! What a great book by Courtney Milan. I absolutely adore both Evan and Elaine because he has truly regretted what he did to her all those years before. After ten years of "escaping" the mess that he had created, he returns to find that everything has changed... and some things have not. It was really hard to forgive Evan/Westfeld, but he eventually became my favorite character. I hated Diana/Lady Cosgrove because while Evan was gone, she made Elaine's life as well as her mother's miserable. Nine months later, Elaine and Evan ended up as friends. And within these last nine months? Elaine is slowly falling inn love with Evan without even realizing it. There is no question whether or not Evan loves her because he really does. He loves her and that makes it all the more sad. Elaine has never truly trusted him because of what he did to her back then. Aah, what a wonderful love story right?! The ending was spectacular and it was very well deserved!

If you're looking for a love story of heartbreak, regrets, and forgiveness... look for further! This is the book for you. Courtney Milan has done it again and I can't wait for her next book, Unclaimed. Overall, this little gem is definitely a 5/5 stars from me.

Bad Girl By Night by Lacey Alexander

Bad Girl By Night (H.O.T. Cops, #1) Holy smoked tamales! This book defines the words hot, sexy, and just "delicious" wrapped up in one awesome package. I truly had a fun time reading this book and I'm pretty sure those who have read it did so as well! You'll love it if you're a fan of Toni Blake, that's for sure. I adore Carly Winters and I really liked Jake Lockhart... until he made that idiotic move by breaking up with Carly. I still don't get his reason! Anyway, if you're looking for a small-town sexy and sweet erotica/contemporary romance book, this is the one for you!

The romance between Carly and Jake pretty much started out with a bang, literally. In all seriousness, Carly has been living two lives; one as herself and the other as Desiree, who is both sexy and confident-- something Carly is not. Everything changes when she finds out that the man that she had a one night stand and menage with... was no other but Jake! On the other hand, Jake is shocked to see "Desiree" in an entirely different attitude and outfit in this small town that he just moved into. Her name is in fact not Desiree... but Carly?! Wow, what a shocker huh. Well, they both start pretty rock because Carly always avoids him because she thinks that he will blurt out her secret to the entire town. Fortunately, that turned out to be untrue and their attraction for one another is undeniable.

And while everything may 'seem' perfect, it was in fact not. Jake and Carly have both had a pretty rough and bad childhood. One of which is Carly being molested by her father and messing up her entire sexual-adult life and the other is Jake being molested by a violator when he was a child as well. Overall? I thought this was definitely an extremely satisfying with some very hot scenes between Jake and Carly. They were meant for one another! I definitely recommend this book to everyone who loves this genre. 5/5 stars!

Tender Mercies by Kitty Thomas

Tender Mercies I was truly reluctant to read this book because of all the things that I've heard beforehand about this author. I was prety much forced to read this book because I was loaning it and it was going to expire soon. Oh well, it was still a fascinating yet horrifying read. I mean really, what kind of idiot was Grace? No offense to her. Was she really stupid enough to sign away her rights as a person and into a slave for this monster? For eight months, she'd endured his pain, torture, and rape... I wanted to kill that bastard for what he did to her. It's like kidnapping, ugh. Oh god, and even though Asher was a lot better than Lucas, I still wanted to hit him. LOL! And this is why I am not exactly a fan of BDSM.

The premise of the story was pretty amusing yet interesting all wrapped up in one package. I mean, it's an island with rich kinky men who get slaves. Would I want to go on it? Hell no! Grace was tricked into getting on that island... and while I may say that she was stupid in doing so, I can't really blame her. I just hate the fact that she had no rights and her "master" could do anything to her except kill her? I also hated how Asher used the words slut and whore to Grace? Yes, I get offended easily. But Grace claims that it was used in an affectionate way... so I don't even know. At least he was nice and kind to her! Unlike that bastard Lucas who abused and violated her in the most disgusting of ways.

Overall, for my first book by Kitty Thomas, I am pretty impressed. She delved into some serious issues and while I wanted to vomit just thinking about it, I do have to give her some mad props. Well done, Ms. Thomas! 4/5 stars.

Heist Society by Ally Carter

Heist Society Oddly, I liked this book yet it also bored me to tears. It appears that the only thing that I was interested in was the relationship between Kat and Hale. I mean, what is with them?! It seems like they both have feelings for one another... but neither of them acknowledges it. It's a pretty interesting relationship because Hale admits that he does all of these things "for her." The reason is always Kat. And Kat always gets nervous and her heart starts beating pretty fast when he's around. Yeah, they totally have the hots for each other.

The plot itself was pretty predictable... but it was interesting to see a bunch of kids try to hack into a high-security art gallery and steal back the paintings that was previously stolen. The supporting characters was also a nice touch to the story: For example Kat's cousin Gabrielle, Angus and Hamish the childhood friends, Simon the genius, and last but not least, Hale the mysterious and handsome friend as well as the other counterpart to Kat!

Overall, it was a pretty fun read and I truly enjoyed it! I'm not sure if I'll read the sequel to this since it would have to depend if there's going to be more Kat/Hale... but, we'll see. 4/5 stars!

Fool for Love by Marie Force

Fool for Love I have always enjoyed every one of Ms. Marie Force's books but this one... oddly, was not my favorite. Don't get me wrong, I adored the hero but the heroine gave me some serious twitches in my eye. I mean I liked the story but I'm not exactly a fan of falling in love at first sight. I still have a hard time believing how Janey can just fall in love with Joe in a matter of days. Well, we all know that Joe has always loved Janey since forever. If she's in any trouble in any kind of way, he will be there for her. He's just that kind of guy. Things start going into his favor when Janey catches her fiance in the act of having sex with another gal. Uh oh! Busted. Janey calls Joe in a state of distress and because he was the only person available... and they end up making love. Bad move, guys.

Oh, I am not a fan of that scenario. I mean, Joe repeatedly told Janey that they shouldn't do it... but that woman is damn stubborn and Joe is helpless against her. He believes that if they do this, then at least he will be able to keep this memory of them having gone this far forever. Aww! I truly think that Janey was very undeserving of Joe because she kept hurting him over and over without even realizing it. She kept asking questions like, am I really in love with him or is this because I just got out of a really long relationship and I need someone. Ugh, make up your mind already woman! Anyway, at least I enjoyed this book right? It was pretty steamy and Janey... was insatiable. 4/5 stars for this one!

A Kiss for Luck by Kele Moon

A Kiss for Luck I actually read book when I woke up this morning and oh my god was a fabulous hot read. I've read Kele Moon's earilier work, Beyond Eden and I loved it to pieces. This gem was no exception! Even if it was short, I still adore it because wow, Clara and Jackson's love scenes were very sexy. If you love stories where the H/h start as best friend but turn into lovers, then this is the book for you. I enjoyed this A Kiss for Luck very much and I wouldn't mind reading it again!

Can I just say the hero is one fine piece of hunk and that Clara is very lucky that he loves her?! Jackson has always been in love with Clara ever since he met her back in high school. When she married her asshole of a husband named Frank, Jackson was left with a broken heart and his friendship with Clara was almost ruined. Years later, our heroine Clara catches her husband committing adultery in bed with some bimbo chick and that was the end of that. The story starts out on New Years Eve where we learn that because Clara is filing for divorce, she's staying at Jackson's apartment for the time being. She finds out that Jackson might be home late due to his job as a firefighter and a paramedic and tells him that she'll be fine. But of course, things don't always go as plan huh?

When Clara goes back to Jackson's apartment, she takes a bath and ends up drinking until unexpectedly, Jackson comes home. Busted! I do believe that this is where Clara unexpectedly kisses Jackson (it's a chaste kiss, mind you)-- which of course catches him by the surprise. Let's just say... everything starts from there and the night will only get hotter. I just wish this was longer, but oh well. We can't always have what we want! Overall, this was another great one by Kele Moon; 5/5 stars.

Sweet as Sin by Inez Kelley

Sweet as Sin If you're looking for a book that will tear at your heartstrings due to the heartache that the H/h will conflict onto you... than you should definitely be reading Sweet as Sin. The cover and let alone the title may mislead you into thinking that this book is just another simple erotica romance.... but you're wrong. It was so much more. Another point to this lovely book is that if you're into tortured hero and a pretty strong heroine, this book embodies all of those qualities. This was actually my first read by author, Inez Kelley and I'm seriously glad that I ordered her other book Jinxed awhile back! ;) Now let's talk about John and Livvy, shall we?

Like every reviewer and reader, I was fooled into thinking that this book was another simple, easy, and sexy read. And boy, was I not disappointed. The book did start out pretty slow... but things start picking up when Livvy decides to agree to John's offer of a 'summer fling.' Soon, she not only falls hard for him but John eventually comes to realize that he loves Livvy and that she is also important to his very soul. Oh, and when they finally made love? It was very sensual and I'm glad they didn't rush into it. One of my favorite scene happened towards the end when Livvy decided to fulfill one of John's fantasy and whoo, what happened after that!

Our heroine, Livvy Andrews happens to be a pastry chef with her own store called The Sugar Shack. Her life gets turned upside down, in a good way, when John comes into town and moves right next to her house. Right from the very start, when Livvy and John meet, there was a sexual tension in the air that neither of them could deny. John Murphy is a famous author who writes tales about the monsters that resides in his very soul. It's really interesting to read about how Jodi and Thorn (the two main monsters in his book) resemble his personality and sides. The climax of the story probably happened when John realizes that he loves her... and decides to end their relationship along with it. And this my fellow readers, is when John excruciatingly breaks Livvy's heart to pieces. The way he broke her heart was just so cruel and hurtful that I was seriously wondering how this book was going to end when I was 90% finished.

Thankfully, the author gave this book a ververy satisfying ending that I really liked. I wanted an epilogue of these two together... but the story between Jodi, Thorn (they're both John), and Vory (who is actually Livvy in his book) was just as sweet! In the end, they're all bounded together through blood and I think that was the best symbol of their relationship. Overall, 5/5 stars!!

Eye of the Beholder by Emma Jay

Eye of the Beholder Meh. This short read was a pretty decent historical romance at best. There wasn't much to the story since it was so short... but you kind of get the gist of the storyline and the characters in it. Grayson Adams happens to have two lives where he's an erotic painter by day and an "esteemed" gentleman/younger son of a baron by night. The heroine Sarah Dusenberry is your 'typical' lady, who is almost towards the age of spinsterhood, and is not exactly drop dead gorgeous. Well, the hero sure thinks so though. I had some trouble with her because some of the moves that Sarah made were so... stupid. There were a couple of moments in the book where I wanted to hit my head against the wall because of her stupidity. I don't really have much to say about the hero either because he was so... flat? Grayson's character development didn't call out to me at all. He pretty much just wanted to get into Sarah's pants-- to put it bluntly, lol.

Oh and the romance. It felt like their relationship was built upon lust? Usually I would have no problem for that, but I tend to judge pretty high when it comes to historical romances. If Sarah was truly an innocent, why the heck would she pose nude for some stranger? What the! That is just waaaay off. I guess, just because she believes that no one will marry her, it's "okay" to do that. *Sigh* I don't know, but this one just didn't work out for me. I mean, it was okay for a nice quick read but I was also pretty disappointed as well. Overall, 3/5 stars.

Loving the Beast by Naima Simone

Loving the Beast (Fairy Tales Unleashed) Loving the Beast was actually my first e-book that I bought using my Kindle and to be honest? This book was definitely worth the buy! I guess it's fairly new but the scenes between the hero and heroine was deliciously sweet and hot! Plus, if you're into stories or quick reads with a fairy tale twist, then this is the book for you. The story starts out with our heroine, Gwen who's at a party solely for the purpose of finding Xavier. As for the reason why, you can pretty much guess from the summary-- she needs him to donate money to the community center that they had both met in. In my opinion, it was a pretty low move from him in order blackmail Gwen into having sex with him. Of course, Gwen is shocked to hear this because of their friendship for all these years! Well, yes she's been secretly in love with him for years and he was in love with her as well... But.

Due to some difficult circumstances, for example Gwen being engaged to his younger brother, Josh. *coughs* They were not able to be together. Well, he gives the bargain and she reluctantly accepts... I actually thought that Xavier would have been a pretty interesting if the author had fleshed him out more into detail, but I'm happy with what I got. Like the Beast, he is physically and emotionally scarred due to his father who he admired's death in the car crash and the result of catching his fiancee in the act of cheating on him. Some tough luck, huh! But like Belle, Gwen eventually heals Xavier's heart through her love for him. It was actually kind of sweet!

Hmm, now let's talk about the scorching hot scenes between the two. I mean, wow. Naima Simone does a pretty great job capturing the sensuality and intensity of their love scenes. I really liked the build-up from havin them gradually start out as being friends and into lovers. I truly enjoyed this little hot read and I am definitely looking forward to reading more from this author! 5/5 stars.
