Elena Dawne returns with a sequel to Maggie and Ben's naughty journey as they continue exploring their incredibly sexy and forbidden relationship out in the wild. Maggie and Ben have grown considerably since the first book and there was a more serious undertone to this installment because they were trying to grow their family. This book certainly took me out of my comfort zone because it featured multiple characters that Maggie had "interactions" with. Granted, it was for the sake of having a baby because Ben wasn't able to give Maggie what she wanted—which was sad, but still. I preferred her relationship to only be with Ben. Of course, there were restrictions/rules to her interactions with the other men so I was at least grateful to that. I much preferred the light and easy going vibes of the first book because Maggie and Ben were simply exploring their raunchy relationship and having sex out in the wild.

Nevertheless, this was an enjoyable, smutty, kinky, and dirty read that will have readers salivating for more. I wouldn't exactly describe this book as a reverse harem because there wasn't any romantic relationship between Maggie and the other men—she only had eyes for Ben. In the end, fans of Elena Dawne will enjoy her latest release because it was super steamy and highly erotic. This is a direct sequel and features the same main characters so I would recommend reading the first book because it does a great job establishing the characters and their wants and needs. It's also worth noting that Maggie and Ben's relationship features several kinks and tropes including milking, ddlg, age-gap, exhibitionism, and breeding. If you're interested in any of this, I highly recommend giving this series a try!

Lunamare by Pepper Winters

Lunamare marks the return of Pepper Winters who has crafted a heartbreaking and beautiful story with all the star-crossed love, angst, and emotion-filled writing that she is known for. Aslan and Nerida's transition from youth to adulthood was incredible to witness as they are forced to come to terms with their own identity, circumstances, attraction, and desperate love for each other. The way the author has written this book is also unique in the fact that an older Nerida is narrating the story to two journalists but we are witnessing the events mostly through Aslan's voice and interspersed with the younger Nerida's point of view. I thought this writing choice was interesting and made me more invested in Aslan's story—which was already a tragedy in of itself. He is a heartbreak waiting to happen but then again, the same can be said for Nerida. She grew from this bright, sweet, and impressionable child to a young woman who made questionable choices/mistakes and suffered from the consequences.

"I'm terrified of loving you, only to lose you. I wouldn't survive. I'd rather never have you than run that risk… You gave me something to fight for when I all wanted to do was die."

There is no denying that Aslan and Nerida were flawed characters and their actions played a part in their suffering, but this also made them human and relatable. Instead of communicating with each other, this young couple chose to bottle everything up instead until it eventually consumed them. In the end, this was everything Pepper Winters advertised it as—an all-consuming and tragic love story with endearing characters who will leave an impression on your heart. Aslan was such an amazing hero because of his kindness, loyalty, understanding, protectiveness, and love for Nerida. I had a difficult time connecting to Nerida because she was so naive and innocent but that all changed with one incident. Fans of Pepper Winters, especially the Ren and Della: Boxed Set because it has a similar feel and vibe, will absolutely love this book and fall for its characters. Lunamare does end with a heartbreaking cliffhanger and Aslan and Nerida's story will conclude in Cor Amare.

I have been a fan of Dani Wyatt ever since I was first introduced to her style of writing way back then and she continues to impress with her latest release. Wanting What's Wrong is a series of standalone titles and Step-Boss is her latest release, which focuses on another forbidden age-gap romance between an obsessive and possessive guardian and his innocent ward. Dani continues to excel at her tropes and the dirty talk between Cade and Lennie was incredibly hot and sexy. Their relationship is complicated because even though he was considered her "step-father," it was always by name. Lennie's mother and Cade had a marriage bound by a contract. They had no relationship whatsoever and were more like friends than lovers. However, her sudden death when Lennie was sixteen years old suddenly thrusted Cade to become her sole guardian. Three years later, Lennie is trying to work as an agent at Cade's company and this is where the story begins.

"You're safe with me. Love isn't wrong baby. And I love you. Forever. In ways you're just beginning to understand."

In the end, I enjoyed this book—especially the hot and intense relationship between Cade and Lennie. I liked that they had eyes for each other since the beginning but never acted on it until she was of appropriate age. He was her guardian and protector but also more. There was a part in the book that was slightly weird and it had to do with Cade's foot but we're just going to ignore that LOL. Overall, the smut and dirty talk was fantastic as always. I wish we had more of that but since this was quick read, I'll take what we can get. Fans of Dani Wyatt will enjoy this story because it features an OTT and dominant hero who is extremely possessive about his innocent and sweet heroine. If you're looking for something quick, sweet, and smutty, you won't be disappointed with Cade and Lennie's story.

Charmaine Pauls was born in Bloemfontein, South Africa. She obtained a degree in Communication at the University of Potchestroom, and followed a diverse career path in journalism, public relations, advertising, communications, photography, graphic design, and brand marketing.
