I had been highly anticipating her story ever since Skye Warren first teased about it in Meet Me Under the Mistletoe. We were given a glimpse of Eva and Finn's potential relationship then and it was clear to me that their story was going to focus on the secrets that both kept under the surface. While this book can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading other books in the Midnight Dynasty world, specifically Beast of Bishop's Landing, as it will make for a much better experience and you will know what Eva has been through. I really enjoyed Eva and Finn's story and thought their relationship was heartbreaking, sexy, and emotional. It had everything that I loved most about this author's writing—angst, fake dating/marriage, and a dirty talking hero. Eva's book is a lot less "darker" than her siblings, which I thought was quite refreshing considering the fact that her brothers went to extreme lengths to possess their heroines.

Eva has always been the dependable and loyal older sibling in the Morelli family. Not only does she look after her family but they also look to her for guidance and advice. What we’ve come to realize, however, was that she didn’t have anyone who looked after her. I absolutely adore Eva because of her kind and loving nature. She was stubborn, persistent, and would do anything for those she loved—including sacrificing herself. On the other side, Finn Hughes may appear as Eva's opposite but there is more to this man than meets the eye. Although he comes off as this roguish, charming, and playboy billionaire, there is a duality to his character because of the secret he is keeping. Finn and Eva share similar personality traits because both are willing to sacrifice themselves for their families. While I do have mixed thoughts about Finn, I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt because Eva deserves more from him.

In the end, Eva and Finn's whirlwind romance will have you aching for more because this was a spectacular beginning to their heartbreaking relationship. The ending to this book frustrated me because Eva deserves the world and more than what Finn is giving her. I better see some high quality groveling from this man in Two for the Show or else Leo is going to kick him to curb. I understand where Finn is coming from, especially if he has been taught to think of that while growing up, but there is more to life than only living in the moment or 'for now.' Fans of Skye Warren and the Midnight Dynasty world will not be disappointed by this book and I highly recommend it to those who love angst and the fake dating/marriage romance with a seemingly charming and arrogant hero and his slightly older but sweet heroine.

As always, the sex was scorching hot and Dani Wyatt certainly delivers on that front. I couldn't help but laugh out loud when Flint and Hale played "Rock Paper Scissors" over her. I found that incredibly endearing and funny. I am a huge fan of this author's writing and she always excels when venturing into DD/Lg and the forbidden. This book was no exception and absolutely checked all of my boxes when I wanted to read a quick and smut-filled story. I highly recommend this book if you like the age-gap and taboo romance with two dominant and possessive heroes who are head over heels in love with their sex kitten heroine.

Both characters have been featured in previous books, specifically in A Lair So Loyal when Uraya saved Oshali from the Queen and Sethorn has been a reoccurring character in the series due to his status as a centuries old dragorai alpha of the Vattoro clan. While Uraya and Sethorn's book can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the books in order because they all build on each other. The world is rich and full of nuance while the characters are equally special and interesting because of their personalities, backgrounds, and purposes. I had been anticipating Sethorn and Uraya's story ever since we were given a glimpse of their push/pull and "antagonistic" relationship in A Lair So Primal. We were never given a reason as to why they were always fighting and now we know why—it's related to their first meeting with each other.
"You're the challenge I always needed. I've been looking for you for centuries."
Although Uraya and Sethorn had a lot of issues, mostly due to her stubbornness and his arrogance, I thought they were interesting characters and excellent foils to each other. When they argued, it was always intense, exciting, and electric. There's no denying that these two have a lot of chemistry together and Zoey Ellis always excels at evoking the sexual tension between them as well. It certainly made for some spicy scenes. I especially loved the agreement scene when Uraya tried to make a deal with Sethorn and went toe-to-toe with him to get what she wanted. The subsequent scenes we got from that was incredibly erotic and dirty. Uraya was always pushing Sethorn to the edge and he was simply not used to her disobedience and unwillingness to worship him. On the other hand, Uraya was constantly annoyed by Sethorn because he was dominant, overbearing, and used to getting his way. It was quite entertaining to see their relationship play out.
"I set out to make you worship me and I quickly realized that you were making me worship you."
In the end, I really enjoyed Uraya and Sethorn's story because it had everything I wanted—a great cast of characters, twists and turns in the plot, a romance that was super steamy and angsty at times, and dragons. The story does take a super interesting turn with the discovery of Khyros' missing dragon, the oldest brother and head of the Vattoro clan. I absolutely can't wait to find out what will happen next in the story because Khyros will finally be reunited with his dragon and meet his mate! Fans of Zoey Ellis and Ruby Dixon's Fireblood Dragons series will not be disappointed by this series and book because it has all the makings of a fantastic fantasy romance with erotic and omegaverse elements. I highly recommend this book to those who like the "enemies to romance" and "soul mates" tropes with an alpha and arrogant hero who will stop at nothing to keep and claim his defiant and stubborn heroine.

The Project was my reintroduction to R.L. Mathewson's writing and it checked all of my boxes—a hilarious and witty heroine, a workaholic hero who can be bossy but also down-to-earth, the workplace romance trope, and a relationship that was seriously cute and sexy. Andi and Devyn had chemistry in spades and I absolutely loved the progression in their relationship from boss and employee to so much more. It's in those moments where they bantered, sighed, and nodded at each other that made their interactions so impactful and precious to me. I also adored the side characters, especially Andi's twin brother Drew and even Nicholas who we briefly met when he tried to steal Andi away from the company and later in the end. I'm hoping that we'll get future books for them.

While the book primarily focuses on the developing romance between Devyn and Andi, it also highlights the project as well as the mystery behind who has been stealing money from Carta Hotels and trying to sabotage Devyn's position in the company. I was surprised and invested in this plot because the perpetrator was always one step ahead. Furthermore, Devyn only had a few months to defend his position as CEO and come up with an explanation for the project's failure provided a sense of urgency to the story. The character development for Devyn and Andi was done exceptionally well as they navigated this difficult situation. Devyn had made a promise to his dying mother that he would work hard and get himself out of the streets—and he did. Andi wanted so much more out of life and was trying to figure out what she wanted to do. Meeting Devyn gave her purpose, meaning, and a love that she never expected.
"He was risking everything by being with her when he was already on the verge of losing everything."
In the end, I loved this book and the funny shenanigans that Devyn and Andi pulled while trying to uncover everything. They were simply perfect for each other, especially after witnessing their witty banter and steamy moments together. I thought their relationship progressed very naturally considering how they went from being strangers to colleagues and then lovers. Weirdly enough, I never saw them as boss and employee because Andi was overqualified for the personal assistant position and she wasn't exactly good at that either, hilariously. It felt more like they were partners instead. I was also surprised by how spicy the love scenes were when they finally decided to take the next stage in their relationship. It has been a long time since I've read a R.L. Mathewson and this has renewed my love for her writing. If you love reading the office romance trope and romantic comedy, you won't be disappointed in this book because Devyn and Andi are spectacular characters who are both charming and loveable in their own right.
