Meet Aleatha Romig

I loved seeing him transform into the man he was always meant to be—one who easily smiles, adores Bristol, and wants all of her dreams to come true. Emerson's story also comes full circle as the LeBlanc brothers become a true family and reconcile with their mother. Finn Hughes also makes a brief appearance and we're given a sneak peek of what may be in store for readers in Three to Get Ready.

In the end, fans of Amelia Wilde and the Midnight Dynasty series will not want to miss out on this truly emotional, romantic, and angsty story between two characters whose lives were never meant to intersect with each other but fate intervened. If Bristol hadn't stolen from Will to save her family, she would have never interacted with Will beyond a personal level and he wouldn't have blackmailed her as a result. Amelia Wilde also gives us another intriguing and alluring teaser between Sinclar LeBlanc and Vivian Constantine for their future book, Cross Your Heart, that has me dying for more. The instant spark and chemistry between these two? Explosive. Sinclair investigates secrets and Vivian has plenty. I hope that Evan, Will's leading security detail, will also get a future book. I'm sensing that there is more to him than meets the eye, specifically a past heartbreak and/or loss. I highly recommend this trilogy to those who loves the broken and tortured hero who never wanted love but finds it in the most unexpected ways and falls deeply in love with his selfless and sweet heroine.

Made To Pay by Tessa Morgan

Made To Pay was my first book by Tessa Morgan and it was a fantastic introduction to this author, her style of writing, the way she portrays her characters, and the electric chemistry between Smith and Zoey—the main characters of this story. I loved the push and pull relationship between these two and the captive/captor aspect of it further heightened their sexual chemistry and time together even more. It was dirty, emotional, angsty, intense, and had everything I loved in a romance. I was captivated by Zoey's resilience, independence, and hopeful nature. She was in a bad situation but made the most of it when she was wrongfully imprisoned, lost everything as a result of it, and was eventually caught counting cards by Smith. However, there was also another layer to Smith and Zoey's relationship and that was one of longing, forgiveness, and a blossoming but fragile love.

"You're mine. Now, and forever. I'll give you everything you've ever wanted, and more. All I want in return is you. No lies. No false promises. Just you."

While Smith was initially cold and harsh to Zoey at first, he became more and more possessive of her over time. What was supposed to be a simple "job" to him turned out to be something so much more precious. I enjoyed seeing him fall in love and it didn't feel abrupt at all because he was questioning everything and wanted her only for himself. Smith did make a frustrating mistake that broke Zoey's heart but he made up for it with his groveling. In the end, I highly recommend this book to those who love the grumpy/sunshine and captive/captor tropes with a dirty-talking and possessive hero who unintentionally falls in love with his stubborn and fiery heroine.

Resilient Reign is the second book in Aleatha Romig's brand new series, Royal Reflections, and it immediately picks up after Ruthless Reign. Lucille and Roman are confronted with a dangerous revelation that may cost them their lives. Not everything is what is seems and no one can be trusted. The book does end with a shocking cliffhanger that will threaten Lucille and Roman's love and happy ending.

Once again, Aleatha Romig fantastically builds up the momentum in the final act of the book when Roman is confronted with another version of himself and a betrayal that may cost him his life. There is no denying the fact that this unique take on royal romance with Aleatha Romig's style of writing will have you questioning everything. I highly recommend this book and series to those who love the forbidden romance and fake identity tropes as it features a dedicated and loyal hero who will stop at nothing to protect his sweet and hopeful heroine.

The Hatesick Diaries by Saffron A. Kent

The Hatesick Diaries by Saffron A. Kent is a love and hate story that spans six years of frustration, jealousy, angst, and heartbreak between two unlikely individuals who had nothing and everything in common. Reign and Echo's story was everything I anticipated and full of tropes I loved: a very steamy romance with lots of dirty talk, opposites attract, grumpy/sunshine, push/pull, and with a hero who was insanely obsessed and possessive of his heroine. She was the light of his life—his Bubblegum, whereas he was the night in her world and her Bandit. The nicknames they had for each other was reminiscent of past relationships in the St. Mary's Rebels universe, which was a nice touch to "end" the series and introduce the Bad Boys of Bardstown.

"I want to be so connected to you that no one, not even you, could ever tear us apart."

Another layer to Echo and Reign's story was also one of longing and forbidden love. Despite his harsh demeanor and words to her, Reign loved Echo deeply but never thought he was worthy of her. She deserved better than him but he wasn't willing to let her go, which ultimately tortured them both in the process. Echo was incredibly sweet, naive, loving, but also fiercely loyal and stubborn. Reign was her complete opposite in the fact that he was intense, possessive, obsessed, and only had eyes for Echo. However, he was also self-destructive and intentionally push her into the arms of someone else. It was messy, frustrating, and complicated but it was always clear to me that Echo and Reign were meant to be.

"I'm insane for you. I'm obsessed with you. You're the life in my veins and you're the thing I crave more than air. I'm sick for you, Echo."

In the end, I loved that Echo and Reign were able to absolve their guilt over what happened and come to terms with their love for each other. It was painful to realize that there was always more to Reign's background and story than meets the eye. He was a tortured hero who simply wanted someone to love and believe in him… and Echo did just that. We were also introduced to several new characters in this book including Homer Davidson, Maple Mayflower, Snow Jones, and Ark Reinhardt. I highly recommend this book to those who love the forbidden and second chance romance trope between a possessive bandit of a hero who stalks and overprotects his sweet bubblegum heroine who shakes his control at every turn.

The Encounter by Cassandra Robbins

The Encounter by Cassandra Robbins was everything I wanted and more for Jax and Ava's story. I'm so looking forward to what the author has in store for them next following this incredibly steamy and intriguing novella. Jax has been a recurring character in some of the author’s previous books including Power and The Entitled duet—which features his twin brother, Reed Saddington. What makes this story interesting to me, however, is the fact that Ava and Jax have a history together. While they were not friends, they did briefly go to the same school and he intentionally sought her out. Unfortunately, we don’t know why but I’m hoping the author will shed more light on their past in the full story.

“My heart is pounding and my body feels sensitized, as if one touch from this man might destroy me. I hope he does. I want to feel so badly, just have someone’s touch that doesn’t make me want to hide in shame.”

While this prologue merely offers us a glimpse into what kind of story Jax and Ava’s romance will turn out to be, it does give us enough to understand their desires, motivations, and want more of it. Ava has lived a difficult life and the sudden death her mother left her alone and vulnerable to the preying hands of others at the age of sixteen. It pained me to learn that she was forced to follow in the steps of her mother—becoming a mistress to rich men. However, Ava did not disappoint me because she wanted more for herself and subsequently left that life behind to start anew. And this point in her life is when she meets Jax again. What ensues is a night that will leave them addicted and wanting more. This is only the second book that I've read from Cassandra Robbin and I absolutely love her writing, the way she portrays her characters, and sexual tension between her main characters. From what I know, Jax and Ava's book will be coming this year and I'm already so excited for it. There is no denying that Jax and Ava's chemistry was intense, immediate, sensual, and erotic. I can't wait to learn more about these characters and what will become of them.
