Dearly Beloved by Amelia Wilde

Amelia Wilde returns to world of the Wealth and Power series, which featured both Mason Hill and Gabriel Hill as its main protagonists. Dearly Beloved focuses on Jacob Chambers and Catherine Bettencourt, who were previously side characters in Gabriel and Elise's story, and I was delightfully surprised by their story so far. There was more to them than meets the eye. What started out as a revenge story in the beginning has turned into a happy ending for the Hills family but some are still haunted by the evil deeds of their father. Despite his charming outward appearance, Jacob is a broken and tortured man who feels guilt-ridden over the lives that his father has destroyed. One could could argue, however, that he had already paid for the sins of his father. In any case, I found his relationship with Catherine to be unique because in addition to saving her from her father, Jacob also protected Catherine by entering an arranged marriage with her. As they spend more time together, both begin to develop feelings for each other but there seems to be outside forces who want to destroy their happiness before its begun.

"I'll never stop thinking of her. It will probably always hurt to breathe, thinking of her.

In the end, I really enjoyed Jacob and Catherine's story because there was angst, romance, and sweet moments with characters from previous books. I absolutely can't wait for Dearly Departed because this book ends in a shocking cliffhanger. I do wish that Amelia Wilde could have provided readers with a synopsis of the story so far and/or index of her characters because I had a difficult time remembering what happened due to not having read some of her previous books. Fans of Amelia Wilde will not be disappointed by this angsty and spicy story because I was really surprised by the sexy scenes. I should have known since Jacob and Gabriel used to be in a relationship but I commend the author and Catherine for taking a chance on this kink. Jacob is a sweet but broken man but he perfectly complements Catherine who is kind, open-minded, and wants to explore her sexuality with him.

Sealed With A Kiss by Willow Winters and Amelia Wilde packs an emotional punch and will leave readers satisfied with the angsty romance between Graham Maxwell and Madelyn Cunnigham. I never saw this writing duo coming and I completely devoured this book. Graham and Madelyn's story was a unique and refreshing take on the landlord/tenant with benefits and damsel in distress tropes. Graham was Madelyn's hero and knight in shining armor—even if it did take him a while to realize that. Their relationship was incredibly sexy, heartbreaking at times, but also forbidden because it wasn't considered normal by any standards. While I would have preferred more character development for Graham and Madelyn, I was still invested in them and their relationship. I also found Madelyn to be a relatable and endearing character because despite her bad situation, she was a hopeless romantic and had an optimistic outlook on life. Graham was intriguing, handsome, and mysterious, a combination that was deadly for Madelyn. Their first encounter with each other was electric—you could feel the tension and chemistry between them.

“I think I've loved you since the first moment I saw you, my little temptress.”

In the end, I enjoyed this steamy billionaire romance between two people who were always destined to be with each other. While their relationship started out unconventional, it didn't take long for it become more. There was also the taboo/forbidden aspect, which had the potential to be yikes but it just somehow worked for Maddie and Graham because they both wanted it and had been attracted to each other since the beginning. No cheating whatsoever, unless you count Maddie's ex-fiancé being the scumbag who cheated. Thankfully with him out of the way, Graham was more than happy to take his place. I really love their relationship, especially how angsty it got. This book also takes place in the world of Tell Me You Want Me, Suzette and Adrian's story, which really surprised me. Fans of Willow Winters and Amelia Wilde will love this book and I highly recommend Graham and Maddie's story to anyone who is looking for an angsty and sexy unique take on the strangers with benefits trope between a heroine who wears her heart on her sleeve and a workaholic hero who comes to the realization that he cannot live without her.

Hero Worship by Amelia Wilde

Hero Worship marks Amelia Wilde's return to her world of modern Greek gods that she first introduced in Richer Than God, King of Shadows, and The Devil trilogies—Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon's books. While Daisy and Hercules' book can be read as a standalone, I would not recommend it because the story was confusing without context and additional background information. A recap of the story so far would have made the mystery surrounding Daisy's origins and Hercules' connection to everyone easier to understand. Nevertheless, I was mostly interested in Daisy and Hercules' complex relationship and Amelia Wilde did not disappoint because it was messy and intense. Their romance felt very dream-like at times and this matched well with the theme of the book because Daisy had her own nightmares to confront.

“I don't want to always hurt her. I don't want her to only think of pain when she thinks of me.”

The story begins with Daisy attending an art gallery for her friend but it quickly turns into an assassination attempt on her life. Someone is out to kill Daisy but who? We're given context as to why Daisy has moved away from the family that she has always known and loved but she is keeping a secret from them. Enter Hercules, who Zeus took in as a teenager, and he is tasked with guarding Daisy until can find the perpetrator. Hercules was quite the interesting character because of his hot and cold reactions to Daisy. If I were to describe Hercules, he would be the “wounded hero” archetype. After receiving an injury in the military, Hercules feels lost and adrift. He eventually accepts Zeus' ask to guard Daisy as a favor even though their relationship has always been difficult. In the end, I really enjoyed this dark and steamy retelling of "Hercules" because it felt different from Amelia Wilde's more recent works.

Jameson Hill has always considered himself to be a crime scene and the mask that he wears for his family is starting to crack. Jameson—just like his brothers, Mason and Gabriel, is a broken man who hides behind a cheerful facade that is starting fall apart. Amelia Wilde continues to blow me away with her stories and characters because I went from being conflicted about what Jameson was doing to feeling sympathetic to his brokenness. The fact that he talks to Snowball, a bird that he rescued, was incredibly endearing and charming. Lily herself was also a force to be reckoned with—brave, innocent, kind, understanding, and defiant. Her interactions and chemistry with Jameson were explosive, charged, and steamy.

"I'd rather exist for her entertainment than be a human crime scene, seconds away from exploding into fresh heartache."

In the end, I loved reading Jameson and Lily's beginning. The book does end with a shocking cliffhanger and now it's Lily's turn to change Jameson's world and outlook on life. Despite their rough beginning, it didn't take long for both characters to start caring for each other. In many ways, her chance meeting with Jameson has irrevocably changed her perspective on the meaning of justice, her grandfather's shady dealings, and the path of law school that was initially set out for her. All she ever wanted was freedom and she experienced that with Jameson. I'm excited to see what Amelia Wilde will have in store for these two free-spirited individuals who might be each other's salvation. Fans of Mason Hill (Net Worth) and Gabriel Hill (Power Play) will not want to miss out on this story because it features the youngest brother who has always been known to seek justice against the corrupted.

Amelia Wilde concludes Will LeBlanc and Bristol Anderson's emotional story in Coercion as they are confronted with the disappearance and kidnapping of the twins—Mia and Ben, the loose ends and knots of Will's past, and the realization of his love not only for Bristol and her siblings but also his brothers: Sinclair and Emerson. The author has truly crafted a beautiful and romantic tale of love and forgiveness. At it's core, Will and Bristol's story is one of unconditional love and having the courage to move on from past hurts and towards the future. Will has experienced tremendous growth in his ability to show love and affection to those he cares about. This is especially apparent in his interactions with Bristol—the constant teasing, flirting, and declaration of love for her was completely new for the both of them. Instead of condemning himself to a life of anger and loneliness, Will has realized how much he needs Bristol and his family. He no longer needs to fight and is finally free from the chains of his past.

"I want all the sides of him. The man who bites and hurts and the man who lets his feelings show on his face even when he doesn't want to."

As for Bristol, her life has changed dramatically since meeting Will. Watching her fall for him was such a heartbreaking but also beautiful thing to witness because he was learning how to love her at the same time. Since Bristol wears her heart on her sleeve and accepts all of him, Will is forced to come to terms with his anger and monstrosity in order to find the strength to forgive and redeem himself. I loved seeing him transform into the man he was always meant to be—one who easily smiles, adores Bristol, and wants all of her dreams to come true. Emerson's story also comes full circle as the LeBlanc brothers become a true family and reconcile with their mother. Finn Hughes also makes a brief appearance and we're given a sneak peek of what may be in store for readers in Three to Get Ready.

"You're everything to me. You're more than I could ever deserve."

In the end, fans of Amelia Wilde and the Midnight Dynasty series will not want to miss out on this truly emotional, romantic, and angsty story between two characters whose lives were never meant to intersect with each other but fate intervened. If Bristol hadn't stolen from Will to save her family, she would have never interacted with Will beyond a personal level and he wouldn't have blackmailed her as a result. Amelia Wilde also gives us another intriguing and alluring teaser between Sinclar LeBlanc and Vivian Constantine for their future book, Cross Your Heart, that has me dying for more. The instant spark and chemistry between these two? Explosive. Sinclair investigates secrets and Vivian has plenty. I hope that Evan, Will's leading security detail, will also get a future book. I'm sensing that there is more to him than meets the eye, specifically a past heartbreak and/or loss. I highly recommend this trilogy to those who loves the broken and tortured hero who never wanted love but finds it in the most unexpected ways and falls deeply in love with his selfless and sweet heroine.

I thought this trait was incredibly precious because despite all his attempts at pushing her away, Bristol accepts and loves all of him... including his monstrosity. There is no denying that Will and Bristol are meant to be together but their relationship is complicated by the fact that he is unable to let go of his anger and past. Although he tries to close himself off from his family and Bristol, Will can't help but want to share parts of his life with her and wanting more. I also love that Bristol has become more assertive and confident with Will because she knows exactly who she wants this time.

In the end, I absolutely can't wait for Coercion because this book ends with a heart-stopping and emotional cliffhanger that left me reeling from shock. It was completely unexpected and I am worried for Will and Bristol. This book had just the right amount of angst and steamy love scenes. I also loved Will's internal conflict as he is forced to reckon with his own feelings for Bristol. He wants her so desperately but believes that she deserves better than him. In many ways, Will reminds me of Amelia's previous heroes: Gabriel Hill and Leo Morelli. Fans of the Midnight Dynasty universe will be happy to know that some characters also make an appearance. I want to note that Will and Bristol's story also intersects with Skye Warren's Two for the Show. I highly recommend this book to those who loves the tortured and prickly hero who wants to love his sweet and selfless heroine but doesn't believe he deserves her.
