Step-Farmer by Dani Wyatt

Dani Wyatt's latest release, Step-Farmer, is an age-gap and forbidden romance that continues the theme of the Wanting What's Wrong series. Eli and Ruby have a pseudo uncle/father figure type of relationship even though they are not related to each other by blood. However, there is no denying that he did raise her into adulthood and their relationship is not "right" by traditional standards. The author does introduce a new element to her books that will surprise and delight many readers. Despite their age-gap, Eli and Ruby's relationship worked for me because he had been in love with her for years. There was a point in their relationship that changed from something that was familial to an increasingly dark and sinful desire. As always, Dani Wyatt excels at the rising sexual tension and dirty talk between her characters. Although I didn't really care for the Marcy and David sub-plot, I did enjoy seeing Eli assert his authority over those teenagers when push came to shove. What I cared more for was the blooming relationship between our main couple and the author surely delivered. It was wicked and super steamy—everything you'd want in a short erotic romance.

"I have lived according to my own set of rules, why should that stop when it comes to Ruby? My most precious possession."

In the end, I really enjoyed Eli and Ruby's story and look forward to whatever Dani Wyatt has in stores for her readers next. If I could summarize this book in three words, it would be "sweet and dirty." All Eli ever wanted for Ruby was her happiness and he absolutely succeeded in taking care of all her needs. In addition to having a neglectful and self-absorbed father, Eli was the only male figure in her life and he eventually became everything she wanted for herself. I highly recommend this book and series to those who like the age-gap and forbidden romance tropes. Fans of Dani Wyatt will enjoy this immensely as it features a possessive and obsessive hero who will do anything for his sweet and innocent heroine. The book does end with a cute and sexy epilogue between Eli and Ruby.

There is no doubt in my mind that Pepper Winters has crafted a beautiful and heartbreaking love story that will forever stay imprinted in my heart. Aslan and Neri's journey was everything I wanted and so much more despite all the tears and tragedy that came with their relationship. From the very first day they met to their last moments on page, Aslan and Neri belonged together—they were soulmates. Cor Amare immediately picks up after the events of Lunamare and our couple's journey does not get easier—in fact, it gets even worse. While this book is indeed a love story, it is also partly a tragedy because of the pain, torture, and heartbreak that Aslan and Neri have to go through to achieve some semblance of happiness in the end. The pain of separation left an everlasting mark on these two but it also contributed to their growth as individuals as well.

"I will be there to say goodbye. In whatever way is needed. I love you enough to kill you."

In the end, I continue to be amazed by Pepper Winter's ability to write such an emotional tale of devastating loss, forever love, and intense hatred for the evil in this world. Aslan and Neri's journey was not an easy one but they never lost faith in each other and their love despite the odds stacked against them. This duet is not for the faint of heart because Aslan and Neri will both experience tragic events and personal hardships that will break them but also fortify their all-consuming love for each other. While this book might not be for everyone, there is no denying how well-written this story was and unforgettable these characters are. Fans of Pepper Winters will absolutely love this book and while it may not be as spicy as her other books, Aslan and Nerida's journey will forever leave a deep impression on your heart and mind long after it's over.

Blaste from the Past by Jessa Kane

Jessa Kane returns with an incredibly romantic and steamy story that transcends time as Blaste and Shiloh are forced to contend with the differences between them as well as the realization that they are soulmates. I loved this short story because it tells the story of two characters from different eras who come to love each other despite of it. Blaste fell for Shiloh the moment he set eyes on her and was quickly overwhelmed by his lust and feelings for this woman. The rising tension between Blaste and Shiloh was my favorite aspect of the book because these two had amazing sexual chemistry with each other. I liked that Blaste was extremely protective and possessive of Shiloh from the start. He knew who he wanted and had no qualms about pursuing her. The dirty talk and love scenes were so amazing—I wanted more.

“But I can’t stop. I can’t, because she’s my love and my lust, all rolled into one. My perfect match. And she’s stripping me of my control so thoroughly.”

In the end, Jessa Kane never disappoints if you're looking for a short and spicy romance full of heart and relatable characters. I loved the time-travel aspect of this book and how the Wanting Tree that was responsible for granting soulmates. It's fantastical but sometimes, we need that in our lives. My heart broke when they were briefly separated but our couple does get a happy and satisfying ending overall. Fans of Jessa Kane will love this book and I highly recommend this story to those who love a good old time-traveling romance with lots of steam between its two main characters. Although it was short, it checked all of my boxes and I was content with the amount we were given. Blaste was rather traditional and knew what he wanted while Shiloh was innocent, stubborn, and loving—they made for a really good match.

The Lawyer by Marni Mann

I was first introduced to Marni Mann a long time ago when I read Pulled Beneath but didn't realize the connection until now. Her writing has changed considerably since then—much more spicier, but the angst and emotion in her books remains the same. This book features a sexy lawyer who knows what he wants as he falls for a charming and confident young woman whose life changes irrevocably after she meets him. I was pleasantly surprised by the steamy love scenes. Dominick and Kendall's relationship begins with a one night stand that turns into more. What makes it even more complicated is that it becomes a working relationship where Kendall becomes Dominick's client and he her lawyer. In addition to their brewing romance, the story is also set under the backdrop of Hollywood and the reality show life. While I didn't care much for it, it did present an interesting perspective on the consequences of fame and the lack of privacy it entails.

“But one kiss wasn’t enough. It never was. When it came to Kendall, I always wanted more. Needed more. Desired more.”

In the end, I enjoyed Dominick and Kendall's incredibly spicy story and I look forward to reading Jenner and Ford's books later on. While I wish it had a bit more substance to the story because they were constantly having sex for a majority of the book—which I did not mind btw, I wanted to know more about them as individuals. We barely got any insight to Kendall's thought process during her time in the reality show and how it affected her. Nevertheless, I did think this book was incredibly sexy and I was invested in the push and pull of Dominick and Kendall's relationship. Kendall's sister, Daisy, disgusted me and I wished she received a heavier "punishment" because her carelessness and cruelty caused so much pain. If you like billionaire romances, I highly recommend this book because it features a playboy hero who becomes completely enamored and protective of his sweet and kind heroine after he meets her.
