Best Man, a brand new contemporary romance from New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestselling author, Katy Evans.

When the wedding of your dreams is just around the corner, everything needs to go as planned. Only problem is, the groom didn’t get the memo.

Aaron forgot the rings, and Lia is determined to make the long drive home to get them in time for their “I do’s.”
But there’s a catch. There always is with Aaron, isn’t there?
Aaron is too hungover to come, and sends a replacement.
The best man.
Miles Foster. The cocky, arrogant, sexy best man…and the last person Lia wants to be trapped in a car with for hours.
But Aaron insists, and Lia wonders if there’s another reason Aaron wants Miles tagging along--aside from sticking her with a hot, surly babysitter.
Yet how bad can it be? It’ll be over before she knows it, and she’ll never see him again. Just like in college.
But when secrets are revealed, and Lia's whole world is turned upside down, she realizes she's been living a lie--and so has her groom.
Miles is supposed to be the best man at her wedding.
But what if he is simply the best man she has ever known? The best man for her?

Excerpt:
The dress is a strapless Carolina Herrera, with layers and layers of whisper-thin organza. It blows my budget and the “less is more” mantra out of the water, but like Eva said the day we bought it in downtown Denver, when you know, you know. The locale is the sumptuous Midnight Lodge, nestled in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains, every tiny detail of the place costing my father more than an entire year of his salary. The twenty-three members of the bridal party are assembled. It’s the scene of every little girl’s fairytale fantasy.
My fantasy.
At least, the one I’d been harboring up until today, when everything changed.
Eva smiles at me. “Ready to make your dreams come true?”
I stare at myself in the mirror. I look like Cinderella, if the wicked stepmother had just materialized at the castle on Cinderella’s wedding day and gunned down Prince Charming in cold blood. I’m also about three minutes away from losing the mimosa I’d polished off earlier that morning at breakneck speed. I go to chew on my nails but then I remember Eva painted them, and the last thing I want is for him to see the chips.
He notices things like that. He’s an observer. And I want to be perfect for him.
Him. The wrong him. Oh, god.
I go to chew on my lip, but I can’t do that because they’ve been lacquered with bubble-gum pink gloss, and he’d probably notice if I got it on my teeth, too. All my normal ways of freaking out are off limits.
This is the day of my dreams, the day I’ve planned to the letter, just so I could avoid any potential calamities that might make me freak out. But I am freaking out. Oh, lordy, am I ever. I’ve been waiting my whole life for this day. This perfect day, where the sun is shining, the snow is melting, birds are singing, and the sky is the deepest blue I’ve ever seen.
But there’s a problem.
A problem in the form of a pretentious, bearded, six-foot-three wall of hot man flesh who stalks around hating the world and thinking he’s better than everyone in it.
My fiancĂ©’s best friend. The best man, Miles Foster. This is all his fault.
“You okay?” Eva asks.
“I am,” I insist, pushing the infernal veil out of my face for the thousandth time. “This dress is itchy as hell.”
I stand and pluck the dress up under my armpits, hoisting it over my boobs. I try to take a step but…too much fabric, in all directions. It’s a wonder I don’t drown in this sea. In this sea, or in this mess I’ve created for myself. I sit back down on the vanity stool and pout. “I’m stuck.”
In more ways than one.
She gathers handfuls of too much organza and helps me up, depositing the pile of fabric safely in my wake. I shuffle to the full-length mirror and glance at myself. I don’t look like a bride, or even a fairytale princess. I look like a prisoner who just got her death sentence.
“It’s too loose,” I whine. I never had much of a rack, and now it’s super obvious. Why did I decide to go strapless again? “I think I must’ve lost some boobage during my diet. What if the top of my dress falls down while I’m walking up the aisle?”
Eva smirks. “I’m sure Aaron’ll love the show.”
The thought makes the mimosa turn in my stomach. I used to live for what Aaron thought. Whenever I had a choice to make on something, be it a new movie coming out, or a sweater at the mall, or a new hair style, I’d think, Would Aaron like this? But I realize, as she says his name, that it doesn’t matter to me in the slightest what Aaron thinks. The only opinion I care about now is that of the man who will be standing precisely two feet to my husband-to-be’s left.
I am such an idiot.
In less than fifteen minutes, I will be marching down the stone steps outside the Midnight Lodge to a picturesque gazebo at the foot of the hills, on the arm of my father, who has socked his entire life’s savings into making this day picture perfect for his only daughter. I will take the hand of the man I’ve been attached at the hip to for over five years, ever since I met him in a dank frat cellar when I was a wide-eyed little college freshman. I will join with this man—this man I’ve spent all of my adult life with—in holy matrimony, ’til death us do part.
I will become Mrs. Aaron Eberhart.
But I know I’ll be looking past my husband-to-be to the man who, up until twelve hours ago, I’d thought I hated. Miles Foster.
And I will be wondering What if
I wish choosing a husband was as simple as choosing a dress. When you know, you know
I did know, or I thought I did. Up until twelve hours ago, I thought Aaron Eberhart was my true soul mate, the one I’d happily spend the rest of my life with. That’s when things took an unexpected turn.
Right now? I don’t even know my own name.
And I have a feeling I might be making a huge mistake.

Best Man by Katy Evans

Best ManAre you looking for a short but angsty and romantic story to read? Well, look no further because this is the one!

Best Man is Katy Evan's latest book and SHE IS BACK. This was a fairly short read because I was able to finish it in a sitting. I wanted more! Miles and Lia have so much history and they wasted so much time not being together. It was frustrating, heartbreaking, angsty, and sexy. I felt like this story could be the beginning of something more.

I went into this book not knowing much about the story other than that Lia and Miles hated each other. I had no idea they had a history it and made me realize why they had such conflicting feelings for one another. I liked Lia but I was also frustrated by her complacency and indecisions. I disliked Aaron from the start and it just got worse from there. It's a great thing that the story was fast-paced! I do admit that I wish we got a little bit more context and background information about Lia, Miles, and Aaron. I was invested in Lia and Miles' romance but the story literally drops you a day before her wedding to Aaron. We were provided glimpses and pieces of their past together but like I said before, I wanted more. It would have been amazing if we got Miles' perspective as well!

Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed this one and I look forward to reading West's story next because I am absolutely certain he will get one! He is Lia's brother and for some reason, he reminded me of Katy's other heroes in her Manwhore and Manhattan series, which I still adore to this day. If you are looking for a short second-chance with a swoon-worthy hero, I highly recommend this one! Miles Foster is quiet, driven, gruff, and surprisingly romantic. What's not to love?

Million Dollar Marriage by Katy Evans

COVER.jpg

Million Dollar Marriage, an all-new standalone contemporary romance by Katy Evans.

If someone had bet Nell a million dollars that she would be saying “I do” to a complete stranger on national television, she’d have called them crazy, but with her crushing student loan payments sending her deep into the red, she’s out of options. This should be nothing more than a business transaction—until she sets eyes on her groom, and everything changes.

The game is on the instant Luke spots Penelope “Nell” Carpenter. He’s out for the money, yes, but getting a little dirty with Nell doesn’t sound too bad either. Everyone knows he’s not the marrying kind, so it’s a good thing it’s just for show. God knows he’s the worst guy his pretty wife should pick for real.

They have nothing in common, but if they want the grand prize, they’ll have to beat out eight other couples. Proving that total opposites attract should be easy enough…as long as they don’t fall in love in the process.

Excerpt:

I’m going to lose my lunch. It’s the live finale the entire country has been waiting for. The arena is packed to the gills with reporters, cameras pointed at us. Flashbulbs go off, and my future seems to flash through my eyes with them. Everything depends on what will happen in the next hour. We could give our answer in a split second, but not now. I know the announcer will drag things out to the point of sheer madness. Recaps of poignant moments from the season, interviews with contestants, performances by “special celebrity guests” who are also fans of the show. It’s all meant to build up to the moment of truth. Every one of the people in this arena, every one of the thirteen million people watching at home—they’re all waiting on the edge of their seats with the same question. Will they . . . or won’t they? I wish to god we could just give our answer and be done. He’s so close, but he might as well be a million miles away. Our fingers entwined, he waves at the crowd cheering our names. His hand isn’t the least bit clammy. I manage a peek at him, his chiseled features, his relaxed smile, and my throat catches. No wonder the world is in love with him. No wonder he’s been the fan favorite since week one. This is it. The end. Or . . . I look over at him and say, “Luke . . . I’m not . . .” He shakes his head almost imperceptibly. “It’s okay,” he murmurs, his fingers stroking my palm. “Breathe, Penny. Just breathe.” So I do. But air is not the only thing I need to make me okay right now. We’ve been through so much, more than most couples will go through in entire lifetimes. And now we’re about to make the decision that will shape our future. To think, seven months ago, I didn’t even know Luke Cross. Three months ago, I despised him. But somewhere along the line, things changed. Somewhere along this crazy little adventure we’ve been having, played out on television for the entire world to see, I did what I told myself I’d never do. I don’t even know how it happened, but as I look back, it seems so inevitable. Like I couldn’t have stopped it, even if I’d tried. But just because it was meant to happen doesn’t mean it will last forever . . .

Million Dollar Marriage by Katy Evans

Million Dollar Marriage (Million Dollar, #2)Katy Evans' Million Dollar Marriage features Luke who we previously met in Million Dollar Devil and his heroine Penelope Carpenter or "Nell." If you love shows like The Bachelor and/or The Amazing Race, this book might be something up your alley. I enjoyed this one but it certainly wasn't my favorite. For those of you who have read Lizzy and James' book, Nell makes Lizzy look an angel in comparison. And oh boy, was Lizzy pretentious but at least she felt more compassionate towards James. Luke and Nell, on the other hand, have absolutely nothing in common except for their circumstances which prompted them to be on the show. Not only was she judgmental towards Luke and called him a "thug," I had issues with her personality and attitude. She simply wasn't nice or cooperative towards her "husband." And yes, they had to get married in this reality show.

Initially, I sympathized with Nell because of her wallflower status, book smart/intelligence, anti-social awkwardness, and quirky behavior but as the book progressed, I saw another side to her and it wasn't pretty. Similar to Lizzy, Nell was pretentious and frequently looked down on other people -- including Luke. At times, I questioned why Luke would ever be interested or attracted to her because they were polar opposites. As for Luke, I really liked his character -- even if he did seem like a jock with more muscles than brains most of the time. I couldn't help but think he was very different from the Luke we met in Million Dollar Devil who was quiet, serious, and protective of his friends. Anyway, it was really hard to see the "love" between Nell and Luke, especially one that would warrant them to pursue a relationship with each other after the show was over. Most of the time, it felt more like lust.

Nevertheless, I did really like the adventure and reality show aspect of this book. It was unique and I liked the fact that Nell and Luke were complete strangers and had to work together despite being very different from each other to win the game. Some parts were really funny like the time Nell was strapped in front of Luke and they had to go through a maze together while being chased by a "ghost." In the end, I did enjoy this book and if you're looking for a fast-paced book featuring characters that are complete opposites in a reality show type of setting then this book is for you!

Excerpt:

He has a face that—until now—only existed in my dreams. Hard jaw, chiseled to perfection. Firm, plush, kissable lips. Sharp, pristine blue eyes that feel like lasers zeroing in on me. He catches my gaze, and the devil’s smile suddenly playing on his lips is worth a million bucks.

That’s exactly how much it cost me. What this guy cost me. I would’ve paid so much more.

It’s like he’s the only man in the room. Like he belongs here. Confidence oozes out of his every pore. Masculinity envelops him as perfectly as his custom black suit. He walks like he owns the place. My heart beats harder and harder for him.

I can’t believe I got him to agree to this.

Women are vying for his attention. His moves are smooth. Sophisticated. Elegant.

“An autograph?” a young woman asks shyly.

He takes the notepad and pen she extends and scribbles his name, his voice low and rough. “There you go.” Beneath all that polish is his raw masculine energy. The determination that brought him here.

“James . . .” I halt him before we go any farther. “Whatever happens . . .”

He looks at me. A thousand words lingering in his look. “I know.”

But does he? I’ve fallen in love with my own creation. I polished a diamond, and now it’s flawless. Perfect. But it’s not mine to keep. He is not mine to keep.

This elite world he’s about to join isn’t one he was born into. These fans only know him because of me. His place at the top? That’s not where I found him.

Million Dollar Devil by Katy Evans

Million Dollar Devil (Million Dollar, #1)Katy Evan's Million Dollar Devil features two completely new characters: Elizabeth Banks and James Rowan. While this was not my favorite Katy Evans book, mostly because of Lizzy, I still enjoyed it nonetheless. Lizzy was a hard character to like because of her "holier than thou" attitude and I wish we had gotten someone more down to earth. I did get where she was coming from but the way she spoke to James grated on my nerves more than a few times. There is absolutely nothing wrong with James. While reading the book, I couldn't help but think that he deserved someone better. The attraction between them was there but I wanted more substance. Lust is temporary, love is forever.
“We have a lot of work ahead. Tomorrow, meet me there at noon. Get your life squared away. You’ll be mine for three months.”

James Rowan then surprises me by pocketing the address and asking, “So for three months, does that mean you’re mine too?”
I honestly didn't get why Lizzy was so fixated on wanting her father's approval. That man is... something. I guess with that kind of man as a father, it's kind of expected that she would eventually grow up to have this kind of personality. I also thought Lizzy's hot and cold attitude towards James got old really fast and I wanted something to happen between them. On the other hand, I was really intrigued and really liked James as a character. He wanted to earn money so that he and his brother could get "out of the slums" and a better life. As mentioned in the synopsis, James is a daredevil. He is a up-and-coming Youtube star who takes dangerous dares for money. He and his brother Charlie live a hard life and when Lizzy offers him one million dollars to become a model for her father's company, he takes it.

Even though the story was slightly frustrating at times, Million Dollar Devil was good for what it was -- a light-hearted read with good chemistry between two completely opposite characters. If you're looking for something with more feelings, romance, and sexual tension between the hero and heroine, I recommend you read her fantastic Real, Manwhore, and Manhattan series as well!

“So you just kissed me because you wanted to.” I speak on a breath.
“Very good. You’re perceptive. Intuitive.”
I realize he’s teasing me in that low, terribly rumbly voice and I wish he would smile at me.
He takes my hand and fingers my palm with his thumb as he leads me to our suite.
I’m sizzling where he touches me, nervously prying my hand free when he leads me into the biggest, most spectacular two-bedroom penthouse suite I’ve ever seen. Not that I’d seen one before in person, only movies.
There’s a kitchen area, and windows from floor to ceiling. A living room, a pool table, gold brass chandeliers, a brown-and-beige-patterned carpet, dark woods, Italian leathers. Gorgeous! I could move in here.
Now I see the appeal but won’t admit as much.
Thinking of our bet, I pay attention to the art on the walls. It’s expensive. I can tell by the numbered print and the signature. Painters with indecipherable and artistic signatures are often the artists to watch. It’s like they know from the moment they paint their first work that they’re on to something big, something that will distinguish their work from all others.
I wish Cullen loved art as much as I do. Maybe I could drag him away from the tables to a local gallery.
“Wow. I could just live he—” I spin around and bump into his big warm body, and he bends his head and kisses my words right out of me.
Kisses me stupid. Kisses my toes curled. Kisses my brain blank. Kisses my heart crazy.

7 win at any cost

Playboy by Katy Evans

Playboy (Manwhore, #5)While it isn't quite necessary to read the previous books in the Manwhore series, I still highly recommend it because Rachel, Gina, and Livvy's books were great. Rachel and Saint's was my favorite! This time, it's Wynn's turn in Playboy. It's been a long time coming but I never thought she would be paired with Callan Carmichael's brother, Cullen. He was barely mentioned in Livvy and Callan's book but what we do know of him was that he liked to compete, gamble, and a mysterious figure. Fast forward a couple of months later, specifically after the events of Womanizer, Wynn meets Cullen at an unexpected place -- not knowing that he had already marked her as his when she was with her ex-boyfriend, Emmett, a long time ago.

It's a very interesting premise and I wish I liked it more but I felt like something was missing. I had hoped for more of Cullen's POV but what we got was Wynn's back and forth between seeing Cullen as "just a friend" and being tempted by him at every turn. He was obviously seducing her from the get-go and I wanted to know why he was doing it. It seemed like he knew more about her than meets the eye. Anyway, I did really love the banter between Cullen and Wynn though. They were constantly daring and betting against each other until it finally culminated into a very hot night between the two. Although they first met in Chicago, much of the book takes place in Las Vegas. I won't go into detail as to why they were there but as we all know from the synopsis, Cullen is a high-stakes gambler and he aims to win the prize, both Wynn and the title of best player in the world.

Ah, the romance. Katy Evans excels in writing sexual tension and chemistry between her main characters; Wynn and Cullen is no exception. The road leading up to their night together was my favorite part of Playboy. Not only is Cullen confident, sexy, and broody but he knows exactly what he wants and it's Wynn. I'm just shocked that she was able to withstand his intensity and want for so long to be honest. They didn't get together until halfway through the book! I do have to point out that I did get a Remy and Brooke vibe from this book. Cullen considers Wynn his "lucky charm" and it reminded me of Brooke being Remy's from Real.

In the end, I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it to fans of Katy Evans and the Manwhore series. It was honestly the perfect ending to it all. We even got to see characters from past books and what they have been up to. I'm not sure who's going to be next but I really am curious about Pepper (Wynn's gallery assistant) and Isaac (a friend of Cullen's and the group).
