Reckless by Jaye Peaches

Reckless: A Dark Mafia Billionaire RomanceReckless by Jaye Peaches was my first book by this author and after getting to experience the steamy love scenes and filthy inhibitions of her characters, it certainly won't be my last. Leon and Katrina's story captured my attention and despite my frustrations with some their actions, I was thoroughly invested in their tumultuous relationship. It started off innocently enough—Katrina wanted to capture Leon's attention and she got it. Their passion-filled night left both wanting more but an assassination attempt resulted in Leon losing his memories of Katrina. Leon never cared for love until he met Katrina. In her attempt to trigger his memories, Katrina is persuaded to become Leon's live-in maid—a role meant to satisfy all of his sexual and physical urges. This was an unexpected turn of events and it surprised me. I didn't think Katrina would go this far for a man she just met but her reckless nature does reflect the theme of the book quite well.
"I'm committed to him and he is to me. We're joined by this thing that binds us together and love is the glue that will stop it from breaking."
Leon was a much more difficult character to understand because he was so fixated on power and disregarded love as though it was a weakness. As with most typical dominant males in this genre, he only wanted a physical relationship with Katrina. Not that I blamed him because these two had incredible sexual chemistry with each other. The physical aspect of their relationship was erotic and dirty. However, fate had other plans because the more time Leon spent with Katrina, the more he started to care and soften for her. Katrina was already in love with Leon despite her doubts about him remember their night together. In the end, I enjoyed Leon and Katrina's super steamy and action-filled romance. While I would have loved a deeper dive into their backstories, I appreciated the story for what it was—light on the mafia, heavy on the kink and smut.
