Blame It on the Tequila by Fiona Cole

Blame It on the Tequila is the second book in the Blame It On the Alcohol series by Fiona Cole and features Nova and her second-chance romance with Parker. Nova was one of Vera's friend and I remembered she was quite wild with Rae. I typically don't read rockstar romances but I was intrigued and curious by Nova. However, I definitely had mixed feelings about this book towards the end even though I enjoyed it overall. At one point, I was really frustrated with the both of them because Nova kept running away and Parker just didn't understand. He chose his career over his love for Nova and it broke her heart.

"I hadn't been able to see or understand how much I'd love him until he was gone and took something vital with him."

Miscommunication, especially in a relationship, can either make or break it. Nova has been running away from her feelings for Parker and although it was frustrating at times, she was only able to cope from her past trauma and memories because of it. Promises made can be broken and unfortunately, Parker did not fulfill his promises to Nova when they were younger. The book often switches back and forth between the past and present. Despite having amazing chemistry, Parker and Nova had a lot of baggage between them. They simply needed to stop and talk to each other. As expected from Fiona Cole, the love scenes were incredibly sexy and hot because of the constant tension between Nova and Parker.

"Too much lingered between us. Too much tension and resentment. And sometimes, if I looked close enough—too much love to be hidden."

In the end, I enjoyed Blame It on the Tequila and will be looking forward to more books from this world and Fiona Cole in the future. I really hope that we will get books for the other band members—especially Oren and Ash because I am most curious about those two—as well as Rae, one of Nova's close friends, down the road! If you're looking for a second-chance romance that is angsty, emotional, passionate, and a little forbidden because Parker used to be Nova's step-brother, then I highly recommend this book!

Blame it on the Champagne by Fiona Cole

This was my first book by Fiona Cole and I absolutely can't wait to read more from her. Blame it on the Champagne is one of those love stories that is set in an office setting about two characters who are incredibly attracted to each other. They also can't seem to stand each other as well, at first anyway. There is definitely a bit of instant lust/love going on but I am completely fine with that! Nico and Vera had amazing chemistry and the sexual tension between these two was amazing to read. She actually made him wait! I also really loved Fiona Cole's writing style because she managed to tug at my heartstrings while I was reading this book.

There is also a revenge plot going on that adds drama to Nico and Vera's relationship. At one point, I wanted to smack Nico because I knew that he was going to break Vera's heart. I really did liked the fact that this book had dual perspectives because it made understanding the characters a lot easier. Without going into spoilers territory, there is a connection between Vera and Nico from the get-go and it has something to do with the revenge plot. My favorite part about this book was absolutely the romance between our two main characters. Theirs was a sexy, heartbreaking, sweet, and angsty relationship. Vera is super likeable and Nico is one dirty talker! There are so side characters who I'm sure will have future books in the series. Vera has two best friends: Nova and Raelynn. I'm definitely looking forward to reading their stories.

In the end, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will be reading more from Fiona Cole in the future. This book was quite angsty at times, which I loved. The dynamic relationship and the tension between Nico and Vera as they battled it out in the office and essentially in the bedroom was my favorite. If you are a fan of marriage of convenience + office romance stories with a spunky heroine who is both sweet and not afraid to back down from the hero and a male lead who is cold and reserved at first but quickly realizes that he can't live without the heroine, then this book is for you!
