Milk & Cookie by Elena Dawne

Milk & Cookie (Spice in the Mountains Book 5)Elena Dawne returns to her Spice in the Mountain series with Vince's story and I couldn't be more than ecstatic about it! I had been highly anticipating his story and it did not disappoint. Vince and Frederica's story felt like a smutty fever dream and I absolutely loved it. Although it was personally missing the angst factor for me, I almost didn't care because these two were so adorable. They had that instant connection and it didn't take long for Vince to decide that she was the one. Fred was known as the "baby-maker" in town and I loved that Vince had no problems with it. She was a single mom who always wanted a big family—with or without a man in the picture. Once Vince came into the picture, Fred realized that she wanted a family with him. While I didn't like that Gail, Fred's mom, was giving Vince a hard time at first, he eventually won her over with his relentless and sweet pursuit of her daughter. And the way he did it? Amazing.

“I'm in love… It's everything I've wished for, and nothing's going to stop me from this dream come true. I'm all in. I'm moving to town and making her mine.”

In the end, this was another winner by Elena Dawne and I was so happy with how Vince's story turned out. Vince and Fred's relationship was so incredibly sexy, passionate, and instant. Fans of the breeding kink will be happy with this one. Daryl absolutely cracked me up in this book and I can't wait for his story with the town's innocent librarian—Cadence Malone. I'm sure that it's going to be another incredibly sexy and fun one because he was unfortunately known as the "ass-fucker" in town, which made me laugh so hard. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a sexy small town romance with plenty of spice and heat between an adorable mountain man and his precious heroine.

Tame Me, Daddy by Sara Fields

Tame Me, Daddy: A Dark Russian Mafia Romance (Boston Kings Book 6)Sara Fields returns to her Boston Kings series with Maxim Morozov's story. Those who previously read Watch Me, Daddy will know that he is Irona Morozov's father. I had been anticipating his story for some time now because I initially thought that he was going to end up with Anastasia Kozlov from Share Me, Daddy. However, he has his own heroine to love and obsess over instead. While I did enjoy the explosive sexual chemistry between Maxim and Riley, I had a difficult time believing in their fast romance. It felt more like Maxim wanted someone to protect and come home to instead because he was lonely following the death of his wife and daughter's marriage. I liked that he was a patient and firm protector for Riley because of her defiant and reckless nature. I couldn't help but feel annoyed by some her antics because she defied and lied to Maxim about her identity. The fact that she had multiple chances to tell the truth but didn't made for a somewhat frustrating read.

“I wanted to know what it would be like to be taken by him and have him possess me, heart, body, and soul.”

In the end, I enjoyed Maxim and Riley's story even though it wasn't my favorite from the author. I loved the spicy scenes but it felt repetitive at times because Maxim and Riley kept doing the same dance over and over again. Riley would defy Maxim leading him to punish her and them having sex. I didn't mind it, but I would have liked a bit more variety other than Riley making a dumb mistake or talking back to Maxim resulting in a consequence because of her actions. Other than that, I am looking forward to Sara Fields moving on from Boston to New York with a potential new series featuring Maxim's brothers. Fans of Sara Fields and the forced marriage trope will certainly enjoy this age-gap romance between a fiercely protective older hero and his innocent and defiant heroine.

Blurb:

I swear I didn’t do it on purpose.

All I wanted was a harmless kiss from the handsome stranger at my eighteenth birthday party. But when he said — with a cruel twist of his cigarette smoking lips — that he doesn’t kiss ‘annoying little girls,’ I stupidly decided to flirt with a random guy to make him jealous.

I never wanted that random guy to fall in love with me. Or worse, accidentally start a relationship with him. But now I have a new boyfriend while I can’t stop thinking about the guy who doesn’t care that I exist.

So it’s time to move on and focus on my new relationship.

Only the moment I make that decision, he decides to notice me.

He decides to stare at me a little too hard and in a way that makes me blush. Oh and one day when my boyfriend isn’t looking, he decides to corner me in a lonely hallway and put his rough and heated hands on me that feels equal parts forbidden and familiar.

But I’m not stupid.

I’m not going to ruin my new relationship for someone that people call Stellan ‘The Cold’ Thorne. Especially not when the random guy I’m dating isn’t random at all.

No, my new boyfriend happens to be the brother of the guy I’m inappropriately obsessed with.

And I’m not the kind of girl who comes between two brothers.

Twin brothers…

Or am I?

Oh, You're So Cold by Saffron A. Kent

Oh, You're So Cold (Bad Boys of Bardstown, #2) I went through a rollercoaster of emotions while reading Stellan and Isadora's book. It wasn't perfect by any means—in fact, their romance was more of a train wreck than anything but it worked in their favor. Their love story was messy, reckless, heartbreaking, and frustrating but I could feel the passion and desire they had for each other throughout the book. Some things worked for me while others were a bit strange. I eventually came to understand why Isadora had that particular kink because she did not come from a loving family and had a desperate need to be loved and cared for. Stellan was the perfect protector for her in that sense. I felt that the love triangle between Shepard, Isadora, and Stellan was also unnecessary because it caused a lot of tension and conflict between the characters. I do have to give props to Saffron Kent for being able to turn Stellan and Isadora's story around for me because I was yelling at their antics and almost gave up on them. They had an incredibly toxic relationship and kept hurting each other in the process.

“I’ve always considered her a threat. A threat to my peace. My control. My promise. A threat because she makes me feel things. She melts the ice around my heart.”

Isadora initially came across as an immature and reckless young woman who used Shepard to get to Stellan but it was more complicated than that. She never intended to let it get this far but it blew up in her face. On the other hand, Stellan had his own demons to fight and was more broken and tortured than I thought. He loved Isadora but felt unworthy of her because he always believed he was just like his father—a monster. His attempt at making Isadora fall out of love with him was laughable and would not work because feelings were already involved. I do have to admit that I loved Stellan and Isadora's sexual chemistry with each other. Their love scenes were so sexy. Despite my frustrations with these two, I was invested by the second arc of the book and wanted them to work. I was glad to see that Shepard came out of this ordeal unfazed because he was more focused on his own issues—specifically his supposed stalker Jupiter Jones, who we all know has been crushing on him forever. The author also hinted at Homer and Maple's potential love story and there were cameos from Ark and Byron as well.

“All I ever wanted was you to believe that. To believe that you could love me. That we deserve a chance. That’s all I wanted from you, Stellan. To just love me and let me love you.”

In the end, Stellan and Isadora's story was truly unexpected and I loved how everything came full circle in the end. Even though I was so mad and frustrated at them, they grew on me as I started to understand why they made certain decisions. I came to love their steamy moments, overprotectiveness, and craziness for each other. Stellan and Isadora's love for each other was ridiculous at times but it was an improvement over Ledger and Tempest for me personally. Fans of Saffron Kent and the St. Mary's Rebels series will not want to miss out on her latest release because it has all the tropes, spicy scenes, obsessive love, and writing that she is known for. Isadora's love for her wildfire Thorn and Stellan’s for his Lolita was all-consuming and unforgettable. I'm really looking forward to what the author has in store for Shepard and Jupiter's book next because I could feel the chemistry they had with each other in one particular scene near the end. It's going to be explosive since he is Stellan's twin after all.

Releasing: June 26, 2024

Dark, steamy romance.

It only took one droplet of blood to forever change me.

Her blood.

The taste of it. The heat of it.

I swallowed her down and devoured her.

For a while, it was enough.

My monster was content. I believed I’d found where I belonged.

But now… that droplet is no longer enough.

I want rivers of it. Oceans of it.

I want the world dripping in red, and I honestly don’t know who I’m hunting anymore.

Her?

Me?

Them?

One thing’s for certain, someone is going to die today.

I just hope it won’t be me.
