Piper Stone returns with a brand new series featuring two incredibly fun and sexy characters—Valerio Royal and Selena Michaels. I absolutely loved these two. They had a rather unconventional beginning to their relationship but it didn't take long for "The Lone Ranger" and his "Cupcake" to realize that they were always meant to be with each other. Their first meeting was delicious and by the end of their date, they were hooked on each other. This book had ALL of the heat and even a bit of suspense and mystery as well. I liked that Valerio and Selena's story wasn't as dark or discipline-heavy compared to the author's previous works. They loved teasing and laughing with each other—which was perfection in my eyes. Their relationship had everything I wanted and more! It was incredibly sexy and spicy with some angst thrown into the mix. I loved that Valerio couldn't get Selena out of his head after one taste. He actually had to work for her—which made all the difference in my eyes.
“You are the breath of my life, the light of my world, but never forget, husband of mine. You actually belong to me.”
In the end, I absolutely loved Valerio and Selena's story and can say that it's my favorite Piper Stone book to date. Their story was so fun, addicting, and sexy. Valerio had such a filthy mouth but Selena matched his freak. She was a natural submissive to his dominant tendencies. Despite some hesitation from her in the beginning, Valerio eventually wore her down with his charm and dirty talk. This was a strangers to lovers with an unexpected enemies to lovers twist. Valerio and Selena's families were supposedly rivals in the media business so it was a surprising moment when they both found out the truth about their identities. A wrong text message forever changed the course of their lives forever but it also led them to each other. I can't wait for Valerio's brothers—Gage and Braxton, to get their own happy endings as well. If you are looking for a fun and sexy summer read, I highly recommend checking this one out!

Sara Fields returns with an unexpected forbidden romance between a shy and naive young woman with her best friend's dad. While the book initially started off strong for me, I was ultimately frustrated by some of the actions that the characters took in the end. However, the romance and sexual chemistry between Jenna and Vincenzo was certainly a selling point for the book. Fans of the author will know to expect the usual from her—a dominant and possessive hero who becomes infatuated with his sassy and defiant heroine. I didn't care much for the mafia side of the story because Vincenzo's old boss was out to frame him for his own nefarious deeds. It was a bit silly, and the fact that Jenna got kidnapped because of it had me eye rolling near the end. Thankfully, everything was resolved and our main characters got the happy ending they wanted with each other.
“We belonged to each other, and I would burn the world to ash to make sure she was taken care of. She was mine, and I would keep her forever.”
In the end, I enjoyed this book but it wasn't my favorite because I was annoyed with some of Jenna's actions throughout the book. She made some incredibly stupid mistakes and didn't handle being alone well. There was also the fact that Jenna also had body betraying syndrome, so she was no match for Vincenzo. I actually did like Vincenzo and appreciated his patience and sometimes mischievous nature with Jenna. He had been attracted to her but never made a move because of his daughter, Bella. However, things took a turn when Jenna stumbled upon his secret—all bets were off after that. If you are looking for a forbidden and age-gap romance between between a dominant and protective older hero and his innocent and defiant heroine, I recommend this book.

He offers me protection, but the bed of a killer isn’t a safe place to be.
I got myself in a predicament. Powerful people on both sides of the law want me dead. A killer needs me alive for his own selfish reasons, reasons I never could’ve imagined in my wildest dreams.
I’m not safe in the bed of a cold–blooded murderer, but I don’t have a choice. On the one hand, he offers me protection, and on the other, he tightens the noose.
I’m caught in his web of lies and deceit. Every truth that’s uncovered destroys me a little more. But he’s already injected me with his venomous seduction.
As for the rest, desolation rips through me when I push the door open and walk through it. Every step I take is like walking on a bed of glowing red coals.
Saverio stands on the gallery, talking to Dante. His smile slips when he sees me.
“What’s wrong?” he asks, wrapping an arm around my waist.
I plaster a smile on my face. “Nothing.”
The way his eyes tighten in the corners says he doesn’t believe me, but he doesn’t push the issue.
I stand like a statue at his side while people file past in a steady row to prematurely congratulate us and to make mindless conversation.
A short while later, Luigi asks the DJ to kill the music. He makes an announcement, but everything is like white noise in my ears.
Saverio takes my hand and pushes a ring with a huge oval diamond over my finger. I can’t stop staring at the monstrosity that shines under the lights, the huge stone weighing down my hand. Saverio holds my gaze as he lifts my fingers to his lips and kisses the ring, something dark and deviant sparking in those eyes that resemble the color of an iced-over lake. Clapping follows and then cheers.
Lowering his head, he claims my lips in a kiss that lasts too long to be appropriate for the occasion. This time, wolf whistling sounds.
It all happens in a blur. The one moment I’m Anya Brennan, and in the next, I’m to become Ms. De Luca.
“Soon,” Saverio whispers in my ear, sealing that frightening promise with a tender kiss on my neck.
Charmaine loves to write dark and edgy romance that will melt both your e-reader and your heart. She's a mom of two teenagers, an adorable dog, and a dominant cat. Her country of birth is South Africa where many of her stories play off. Her French husband kidnapped her to the south of France where she currently lives with her family. When she's not writing, you'll find her in the kitchen baking cakes or in the gym lifting weights (because ... all those cakes!).
