Oh, You're So Cold by Saffron A. Kent

Oh, You're So Cold (Bad Boys of Bardstown, #2) I went through a rollercoaster of emotions while reading Stellan and Isadora's book. It wasn't perfect by any means—in fact, their romance was more of a train wreck than anything but it worked in their favor. Their love story was messy, reckless, heartbreaking, and frustrating but I could feel the passion and desire they had for each other throughout the book. Some things worked for me while others were a bit strange. I eventually came to understand why Isadora had that particular kink because she did not come from a loving family and had a desperate need to be loved and cared for. Stellan was the perfect protector for her in that sense. I felt that the love triangle between Shepard, Isadora, and Stellan was also unnecessary because it caused a lot of tension and conflict between the characters. I do have to give props to Saffron Kent for being able to turn Stellan and Isadora's story around for me because I was yelling at their antics and almost gave up on them. They had an incredibly toxic relationship and kept hurting each other in the process.
“I’ve always considered her a threat. A threat to my peace. My control. My promise. A threat because she makes me feel things. She melts the ice around my heart.”
Isadora initially came across as an immature and reckless young woman who used Shepard to get to Stellan but it was more complicated than that. She never intended to let it get this far but it blew up in her face. On the other hand, Stellan had his own demons to fight and was more broken and tortured than I thought. He loved Isadora but felt unworthy of her because he always believed he was just like his father—a monster. His attempt at making Isadora fall out of love with him was laughable and would not work because feelings were already involved. I do have to admit that I loved Stellan and Isadora's sexual chemistry with each other. Their love scenes were so sexy. Despite my frustrations with these two, I was invested by the second arc of the book and wanted them to work. I was glad to see that Shepard came out of this ordeal unfazed because he was more focused on his own issues—specifically his supposed stalker Jupiter Jones, who we all know has been crushing on him forever. The author also hinted at Homer and Maple's potential love story and there were cameos from Ark and Byron as well.
“All I ever wanted was you to believe that. To believe that you could love me. That we deserve a chance. That’s all I wanted from you, Stellan. To just love me and let me love you.”
In the end, Stellan and Isadora's story was truly unexpected and I loved how everything came full circle in the end. Even though I was so mad and frustrated at them, they grew on me as I started to understand why they made certain decisions. I came to love their steamy moments, overprotectiveness, and craziness for each other. Stellan and Isadora's love for each other was ridiculous at times but it was an improvement over Ledger and Tempest for me personally. Fans of Saffron Kent and the St. Mary's Rebels series will not want to miss out on her latest release because it has all the tropes, spicy scenes, obsessive love, and writing that she is known for. Isadora's love for her wildfire Thorn and Stellan’s for his Lolita was all-consuming and unforgettable. I'm really looking forward to what the author has in store for Shepard and Jupiter's book next because I could feel the chemistry they had with each other in one particular scene near the end. It's going to be explosive since he is Stellan's twin after all.

Cover Reveal: Sapphire Scars by Pepper Winters

Pepper Winters has revealed the gorgeous cover for Sapphire Scars!

Releasing: June 26, 2024

Dark, steamy romance.

It only took one droplet of blood to forever change me.

Her blood.

The taste of it. The heat of it.

I swallowed her down and devoured her.

For a while, it was enough.

My monster was content. I believed I’d found where I belonged.

But now… that droplet is no longer enough.

I want rivers of it. Oceans of it.

I want the world dripping in red, and I honestly don’t know who I’m hunting anymore.

Her?

Me?

Them?

One thing’s for certain, someone is going to die today.

I just hope it won’t be me.

Red Flag Bull by Elena Dawne

Red Flag Bull (Spice in the Mountains Book 4)Elena Dawne continues to blow me away with her writing—especially the way she crafts her stories, characters, heartbreaking romance, and the smut! Her books are like crack to me. Jason and Mandi were amazing characters and my heart broke for these two tortured souls. Although they have endured so much pain, sorrow, and trauma for almost twenty years, their love for each other was everlasting. I loved this book and their all-consuming love and sexy relationship captured my attention from start to finish. I could not get enough of this book and simply devoured it. This was a fantastic second chance and opposites-attract romance between two characters who were almost meant to be with one another. Shifting between the past and present, Jason and Mandi's love story was an incredible tale of forgiveness, redemption, love/hate, and finding happiness after pain.
“If you ever think life’s not worth living, you come find me, Princess. I’ll give you the love you need.”
In the end, Jason and Mandi's passionate and highly erotic romance was everything I wanted and more. Even though this book is part of the Spice in the Mountains series, it can be read as a standalone. There was an exciting cameo by Vince—a character who I am really looking forward to reading about, and one of Jason's closest friends. This book is a must read for those who are looking for an emotional and exciting second chance romance. I highly recommend Elena Dawne's latest release to anyone who is looking for an angsty and steamy love story between a dominant but loving and possessive hero and his tortured but resilient heroine. I'm so happy that Jason found his happily ever after with "the one who got away" and can't wait for Vince and Daryl to get theirs!

Sempre: Redemption by J.M. Darhower

Redemption (Sempre, #2)What an incredible story from start to finish. Sempre, Redemption, and Made left me speechless because everything came full circle—it was simply fated to be. These characters—Carmine, Haven, Vincent, Maura, Dominic, Corrado, and Celia will forever have a special place in my heart. This was a story about love, redemption, family, sacrifice, death, revenge, and betrayal. It had everything I wanted in a fictional novel about the mafia and/or organized crime. While it is considered a romance, there was so much more to this story than Carmine and Haven's young love. All of the characters made this story for me. It took the characters almost ten years to find out who the true mastermind behind Maura's death was, which led to Vincent's quest for revenge, as well as the truth behind Haven and her mother Miranda. My heart simply shattered to pieces when the charade finally came to an end—both from Carmine and Corrado's point of view.
“You turned me upside down and made me feel again. You saved my life, even though I didn’t realize it needed to be saved.”
In the end, this tale of redemption and sacrifice was everything I wanted and more. It was masterfully written by the talented J.M. Darhower and I highly recommend this series to anyone who is looking for an excellent mafia romance with fantastically written characters and a story that will grip your heart and never let go. Carmine has made some terrible decisions but I never faulted him for it. Just like his father, Carmine fell in love with a slave and did everything in his power to save her. The parallels broke my heart. I loved that in the end, Carmine and Haven were able to overcome their hardships and get their happy ending. The mastermind and individual behind everything got what they deserved. Redemption answered all of my questions and gave me even more in Made. I loved this series and will never forget it.
