“It will please you to know,” she said, taking the opportunity to change the subject. “That I am now considered a full Mheyu Guardian.” She smiled at him. “My training was successful.”
The anger afflicting Tyomar slowly ebbed away. His fists relaxed and his eyes became more focused as he looked her over. “Congratulations, little cloak,” he said gruffly. “You are still wearing your old gowns.”
“My new ones are being made,” she explained. “But they will be ready for me soon.”
Tyomar nodded, but he seemed distracted. “Does that change anything regarding you being our contact?”
“Yes. In a few days, I will no longer be your contact.”
“I see.” The dragorai was silent for a long moment, his face like stone. “So someone will replace you while you familiarize yourselves with your new duties? I’m not sure why it makes any difference if you are still at the sanctum.”
“I won’t be at the sanctum,” Oshali clarified. “I will be traveling.”
Tyomar suddenly became alert. “What? Where could you possibly be traveling to?”
“Across the realm. I’m going to the South—”
His face distorted into an expression of disbelief. “No, you are not.”
“They have given me an assignment. It requires that I travel South.”
“You can refuse it.”
Oshali’s frown deepened, her annoyance building. “I don’t want to refuse it. I’ve been looking forward to exploring the realm since I was little.”
That seemed to disarm him a little, but he looked at her like she was insane. “You will be traveling into dangerous territories during a war, little cloak. Many lives have been lost in this war, and many lives brutally destroyed. Death isn’t the worse thing out there.”
“I know,” she replied, “but I’m prepared. I want to experience the realms. I won’t be risking my safety.”
“No. I forbid it.”
Oshali’s anger burst to the forefront of her hard-fought-for control, and against all of her training and all of her willpower, she snapped back at him. “You cannot forbid it! Your permission is not required.”
Tyomar’s face twisted into a snarl. “I’m sure that if I ordered the Mheyu, they would—”
“They would tell you we do not follow orders from the dragorai,” Oshali finished for him. “They are the ones who are giving me this assignment. What could you possibly say that they don’t already know about me traveling the realms?”
Tyomar shook his head. “You are going into this blindly. You do not know how much danger you will be in.”
“You think I am defenseless?” Oshali asked, almost laughing out loud. “You think I have absolutely no way of protecting myself?”
“Your Mheyu Gowns will not protect you from everything,” Tyomar bellowed. “You think guardians haven’t died out there? You do not know the people out in the realms, the lives people live that make them desperate and angry and do unspeakable things. It is foolish for you to make decisions about anything when you are wholly ignorant of what you’re getting into.”
Oshali huffed out a breath, realizing what was happening. Since he still thought of her as a child, he believed she was incapable of doing anything so adult as to travel across the realms by herself. And the more she thought of it, the angrier she became. Did he think just because he visited and spoke to her now and then that he could control her? Did he think that because he rescued her as a child, that her life belonged to him now? The only thing that rang true from her heated thoughts was that he still felt she was incapable.
Gritting her teeth, she surveyed where they were. High near the top of the mountain, the platform was wide enough for them to be ten feet apart, but behind Tyomar was an enormous drop and the rest of his mountain range spread out, vast and beautiful.
Oshali began to cast, drawing on the Thrakondarian language to create rhythm and pattern in her speech, building and crafting the gorgeous poetry that called on magic to aid her. It responded immediately, rich and plentiful, waiting for her instruction as it gathered. Tyomar’s face dropped, astonishment evident, but before he could do or say anything, Oshali launched into a sprint toward him. This book felt different from the first one because it felt more ominous and oppressive whereas it was previously haunting and melancholy. In my opinion, the house itself was a character. Skye Warren excels at capturing this atmosphere of "being chased or haunted by a ghost" throughout the book—similar to the events in Jane Eyre. Coach House has been reduced to ashes and someone is out to destroy all that Beau Rochester holds dear. While reading this book, I couldn't help but feel that Beau, Jane, and Paige were being pursued and hunted by something. It was quite chilling to be in the mindset of both Jane and Beau because they barely survived that fire.
"I want her, and it's not good for her. None of this is good for her. It's dangerous."
In addition to the mystery behind who burned down the Rochester's house and is trying to harm them, Jane and Beau's relationship burns hotter than ever. Skye Warren once again captures the angst, emotion, longing, and dark nature of their relationship. I definitely want more! Jane is perfect for Beau because she is innocent and submissive and he needs someone who can be his anchor to his turbulent emotions. However, the events in this book will test their relationship even further as they are being hunted by the mysterious arsonist and Joe Causey, Emily Rochester's brother. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time because I kept questioning who to trust and believe.
"People who love each other don't always end up together."
In the end, the story went off to a direction that surprised me and I can't wait to find out the conclusion to Jane and Beau's story in Best Kept Secret because this book also ends in another shocking cliffhanger. The truth has finally been revealed but what I'm most curious about is how? Either way, I adored Jane and I really like Beau even though I wanted to smack him for being an idiot at times. He kept hurting and loving Jane. Nevertheless, their relationship is also one of my favorite parts of this book as well as Paige. I adore their little family. Fans of Jane Eyre will love this adaption because Beau is a brooding hero who loves passionately and will do anything to protect Jane and his niece, Paige. I highly recommend this series!

It feels surreal that Ian and Cas' story is over. This trilogy has been so amazing, heartbreaking, and action-packed from start to finish. Stolen Love felt different from the second book but the feelings and emotions were just as turbulent. Charmaine Pauls did an exceptional job tying up all the loose ends for our hero and heroine by leaving us with a future that is bright and with so much potential. A lot has happened since the events in Stolen Life and with that heart-wrenching ending, I was waiting with bated breath for their eventual reunion. Let's just say I was not disappointed. Despite everything, Ian and Cas are still in love with each other. However, there are painful consequences that must be addressed. I am completely satisfied with what Ian decided to do in the aftermath of that ending.
"Love makes you blind, but so does vengeance."
Charmaine Pauls has crafted a love story that is full of angst and emotion since the beginning and this last book in the trilogy is no different. I would say that it's the most action-packed and suspenseful out of the three. Cas is a changed woman. Parts of her remain the same but her heart is gone because it was given to a thief by the name of Ian Hart. So many revelations, truths, and misunderstandings between the two are finally brought to light. The story begins with Cas who has decided to track down Ian to enact revenge. At first, I was really confused but then I also understood where she was coming from. However, I also knew that things weren't going to go as planned. The love that these two had for each other, despite everything that has happened, was my favorite part of this book. They're soulmates, plain and simple.
"You're not mine because I own you, but because you own me… I'll always belong to you. That's why you're mine."
In the end, Stolen Love was an outstanding ending to the trilogy and will absolutely leave you on the edge of your seat and in tears while wanting more. Might I say a book for Leon Hart and his special someone? We also get a special appearance from Damian Hart and Lina! Zoe and Maxime were also mentioned. I loved Ian and Cas so much. Their love story started off dark but it became so much more. To Ian, Cas is the only one for him and vice versa. If you love reading books with a badass hero and heroine who go through so many trials and tribulations to be together, then I highly recommend this trilogy! You won't regret it!
