Tempting the King by Dani Wyatt

Tempting the King (Palate Teasers #3)Dani Wyatt makes a return with her latest release, Tempting the King—a standalone romance full heat, over-the-top romance, and an obsessive love from her MMC. Although the book started off slow in the beginning, it quickly picked up once Emee and King had their first true meeting. I liked that Emee was incredibly independent and had issues with not being in control due to past trauma. Unfortunately for her, meeting King threatened everything including her livelihood, control, and future. This was one of those opposites attract romance because while Emee was a rule follower, King had anger issues, was prone to violence, and embodied everything that was chaos. The story begins with them as therapist and patient but quickly spiraled out of control because King was determined to possess Emee and demanded everything from her.
“Give it all to me. All that sweetness. Lose control for me, baby. When you’re with me, I take care of everything.”
In the end, this was an incredibly spicy and short romance between two characters who were able to overcome their past trauma and find love with each other. King was a dirty talker and I was completely enamored over his obsessive and possessive love for Emee. He was simply crazy and unhinged for her, which made for an entertaining read. The bit with Emee's brother was somewhat frustrating to read because he was clearly taking advantage of her but I was happy with how they were able to resolve it in the end. I'm hoping that the author will write a book for Victor Kozlov, King's best friend and teammate, because he was interesting and had a lot of personality. If you are looking for a quick and dirty romance featuring likable characters and plenty of steam, you won't be disappointed with this book!

In His Office by Sara Fields

In His Office: A Billionaire Boss RomanceHunter Blackthorne and Morgan Davis' all-consuming, explosive, and highly erotic relationship captured my attention from start to finish. In His Office is my favorite Sara Fields book to date because although Hunter was dominant and controlling at times, he was also very sweet and protective. I liked that he was willing to do anything to protect Morgan—even going so far as to wipe out his opponent. Although this may have a "simple" billionaire romance formula, it worked wonderfully because of the incredibly spicy scenes and overwhelming sexual chemistry between Hunter and Morgan—which made for a highly arousing read. I would consider this an "office romance" where our two main characters have a working relationship as boss and employee. Hunter has hired Morgan's PR firm to help save his company and navigate the firestorm that his uncle has caused. As the story continues, Hunter and Morgan play an arousing game of cat and mouse where they try to resist each other but it was impossible.
“My heart beat for her, and only for her… I would burn the world just to keep her.”
In the end, I absolutely loved this book and can't recommend it enough because of the incredible sexual chemistry between Hunter and Morgan. Hunter was dominant, sexy, obsessed, and overprotective whereas Morgan was sweet, independent, kind, and innocent. While I simply adored their relationship, there were a few kinks that some readers might find uncomfortable including spanking, domination and submission, power play, and light degradation. This is a must read for fans of Sara Fields and billionaire romance readers. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a steamy love story that focuses more on the developing sexual relationship between the dominant and possessive hero and his sweet and beautiful heroine.

Lord of Retribution by Piper Stone

Lord of Retribution (Lords of Corruption #3)Lord of Retribution by Piper Stone is the third book in the series and it features Daniel Thorn—Constantine Thorn's younger brother. I was surprised by this one because it was incredibly fast-paced and not much background information was provided on the characters, specifically Daniel and Margot. The story begins with Daniel and Margot's wedding day, which was a result of an arranged marriage between their families. There is a sense of foreboding between them and readers quickly come to realize that the heroine is keeping a major secret from her intended husband. However, there is no denying the sexual chemistry and tension between them—which certainly made for a steamy first night together. As Margot begins to navigate her new role as Daniel's wife, she must contend with the consequences of her secret and guilt that comes with betraying her husband once he finds out the truth.
“What she did to me was the greatest sin of all. The beautiful woman made me want to be a better man.”
Overall, I enjoyed this book but I did have a few issues with Daniel's relationship with Maria/Margot because of the secret she had kept from him for a majority of the book. As someone who typically does not care for the switching character deception trope, I had a hard time accepting Daniel and Margot's relationship and believing in their love at first. Despite being a ruthless and violent man, Daniel was very forgiving, romantic, and charming towards the woman he loved. He was simply a different man. At the same time, Margot was falling for Daniel. Although she was not his real wife, their relationship was turning into something unexpected for the both of them. Daniel and Margot's lives have become forever intertwined and although she lied to him, he will never let her go. Fans of the character switching trope, arranged marriage, and mafia romance will be sure to enjoy this fast-paced story between a man who never thought he would love anyone until he found it in a feisty and defiant woman.

Sophia

He’s too cocky. Too much of a playboy. Too handsome, too charming…

And way too young.

Carter McCord is exactly the kind of trouble I don’t need. We hold the same top executive spot at rival corporations, but the similarities end there. He’s glided through life on good looks and his daddy’s money, I’ve fought tooth and nail for every dime I’ve earned.

I dislike him intensely.

The problem is that I want him in the same way.

Carter

She’s smart, sophisticated, and sexy as hell. I don’t care that we’re supposed to be enemies, that she acts like I’m invisible, or that my whole family would cut me off if we were together…

I’m gonna make her mine.

Even if she makes me beg for it.

Author’s note: Beg For Me is a standalone enemies-to-lovers, reverse age-gap romance with an obsessive morally gray hero and spicy bedroom scenes intended for mature readers only.

Lord of Vengeance by Piper Stone

Lord of Vengeance (Lords of Corruption #2)Piper Stone continues her Lords of Corruption series with the enigmatic and dangerous Diego Santos who was previously featured as a side character in Lord of Punishment. While this book can be read as a standalone, readers will appreciate the story and side characters a lot more if they had read the Kings of Corruption series, specifically King of Pain because it features Dante—Diego's twin brother. In any case, Diego was the shining star of this book and his love story with Sabrina Rose was incredibly romantic, sexy, and full of angst. Piper Stone simply excels at this formula and I was captivated by their relationship from the very beginning. I loved that their past and present were so interconnected. Their obsession and initial lust that eventually turned into love was a heady thing to witness. In addition to the all-consuming romance between the two, Diego and Sabrina are both embroiled in a murder/conspiracy plot that placed them in immediate danger.
“You are everything to me, the only person who’s ever been able to rock my world. I’m not letting you go. Not now. Not ever.”
In the end, Diego and Sabrina's passionate and spicy romance was everything I wanted and more. The fact that they had a past with each other—one where he saved her life, significantly changed the course of their lives until fate finally intervened and brought them together once again. I was shocked when the "main" perpetrators were finally revealed because they previously had relationships with Sabrina until they betrayed her. Nevertheless, it was incredible to see Sabrina's transformation in the end because she was one stubborn woman. I wanted to shake her at times because she fought Diego at every turn but ended up getting swept away by his own stubbornness and obsession with her, which I found to be amusing. If you are looking for an action-packed dark/mafia romance with an engaging plot and characters, I highly recommend the steamy romance between the ruthless Diego Santos and his innocent flower.
