and Watching Her marks the first book featuring Christian and Penelope. This book did a great job introducing the other cast of characters and their potential stories. I thoroughly enjoyed their incredible chemistry as well as their super steamy, passionate, and provocative "cat and mouse" relationship. I loved the yearning from Christian and the fact that he fell first and harder for Penelope. As expected from the title of the book, Christian likes to stalk his prey but Penelope didn't mind this about him at all. Although Christian's kink was centered around stalking Penelope because he was obsessed with her, there was actually another nefarious character with a more dangerous intent. Nevertheless, the author did an excellent job developing the relationship between Christian and Penelope, especially when it comes to their all-encompassing desires for one another.“She was my everything. The sunlight in the morning, the air I breathed, and I’d maintained control until the timing was right.”
In the end, I enjoyed this book and highly recommend it to dark romance readers who like the "he falls first and harder" trope. The yearning in this one was excellent—I was especially captivated by the prologue and it really set the stage for their relationship. I do have to note there were a couple of scenes that were too descriptive for me, which led to some skimming. However, they were rare and it didn't detract from the reading experience. Overall, this book checked all of my boxes — it had a possessive and obsessed male lead who desperately yearned for his heroine AND a strong female lead who knew her worth and what she wanted for herself. The author absolutely delivered on their HEA and I couldn't be more pleased by the book's ending.
